Located on the brink of the Yorkshire Dales and with the Lake District National Park not far away, this property boasts an unrivalled position for exploring the heart of northern England. The village itself is equipped with plenty of amenities and welcoming local pubs, along with a pretty bridge running over the River Eden. You’ll never be short of stunning walking routes whilst staying in this area. Follow the 182-mile Coast to Coast route, venturing east into the Yorkshire Dales or west into the Lake District. Set off on two wheels or your trusty hiking boots to explore the Eden Valley (approx. 15 miles) or take day trips to the nearby towns of Windermere (31.5 miles) and Kendal (23 miles).

This cosy and compact cottage features traditional style and plenty of original features, the perfect space for three to call home. Inside you’ll first come across a lounge/dining room that’s kept cosy thanks to a wood burner. Throw logs on the fire and bask in the warm glow whilst watching the TV/DVD, listening to the radio or selecting a CD to play. You’ll also find a dropleaf dining table for enjoying meals together on an evening. Tuck the table and chairs away to extend the space throughout the day. Continue through into a farmhouse-style kitchen with direct access into the garden. This room is equipped with electric oven, gas hob, microwave and a fridge with freezer compartment for preparing meals throughout your stay. Completing this room is a washing machine, perfect for cleaning muddy walking gear after long walks. Venture upstairs to find two charming bedrooms with sturdy wooden furniture and romantic touches. The king-size bedroom comes first, followed by a cosy single bedroom with a bookworm’s perfect window seat. Finally, a family bathroom with WC and shower completes the offerings of this cottage.

Step outside to find a pretty garden with a bistro dining set for your use. Early morning coffee or late night drinks are bound to be enjoyed in this space when weather allows. The patio is complete with a pretty pond and handy storage hut for keeping your bikes secure.

Great location, warm cosy cottage, very comfy bed, lovely little enclosed walled garden that is a sun trap. Plenty of good walks many from the doorstep, friendly local people, good dog friendly pubs and cafes (although some cafes were not dog friendly). Amazing little cottage with enclosed back garden. It was wonderful for our dog. Have visited Kirkby Stephen twice before ( the accommodation was modern and lovely but no outdoor area - in previous place ) so would definitely return to the cottage in Nateby Rd again because of its location and the back yard.

We visited the cottage at the end of Sept, the weather was dry but the cottage during the evening was cold, and the log burner gave off very little heat. The tv is tiny, computer size screen and no DVD player as advertised. The village is quite nice but not much to do in the evenings, one of the two main pubs was closed and the other does not serveRead more food out of season end Sept is out of season. Summer months would be the best time to visit with a nice south facing garden is the only positive Hide
