Close to the popular Dales Way walking route, the property makes a wonderful base for keen walkers, cyclists and nature lovers exploring this breathtaking corner of the Yorkshire Dales. The picturesque town of Sedbergh (2 miles) is known for its independent bookshops and has three welcoming pubs as well as some lovely restaurants and friendly cafes or grab a takeaway if that's more your thing . Or why not visit Sedbergh's weekly market on Wednesday mornings to buy your fresh local produce. Exploring the Dales, landmarks include Cautley Spout (6.5 miles), Pendragon Castle (14.5 miles) and White Scar Cave (18 miles). Both Kendal (9.5 miles) and the pretty market town of Kirkby Lonsdale (11 miles) have some great places to eat and drink. Heading over into the Lake District National Park, a wealth of attractions include Sizergh Castle (15 miles) and Lakeland Wildlife Oasis (16 miles).
Stepping through the covered porch, the airy entrance hall is a useful spot for leaving coats and boots before heading into the cosy snug. This delightful room has a TV and plenty of seating, providing an ideal space to get away with a good book or a favourite film. Like most of the ground-floor rooms, the snug has flagstone floors and original wooden ceiling beams adding to the charm of the property. Exploring further, the main lounge also has a TV and plenty of seating, as well as a warming wood burner, perfect for chatting late into the night. The bright and airy kitchen has a fantastic range of useful equipment including an electric range-style oven with gas hob, fridge/freezer, an additional separate freezer, a microwave and a tap providing instant boiling water. The central island makes a charming spot for breakfast. The kitchen opens into the light-filled sun room which also serves as the dining room. This elegant space has windows on three sides, offering fantastic rural views, and provides an ideal spot for sharing a special family meal. The washing machine can be found in the utility room. Originally the pantry, there’s now a stylish ground-floor shower room with shower, WC and a unique stone washbasin. Heading upstairs there are four pretty bedrooms off the traditional panelled landing. You can choose from a super-king-size room, two twin rooms, and a king-size room, all decorated in soothing and relaxing tones. The first floor also has the family bathroom with underfloor heating and featuring a panelled bath, separate shower and WC.
Outside, the extensive grounds have a lovely patio with a BBQ and outdoor furniture, perfect for al fresco dining on a sunny afternoon. The patio is also home to a delightful pond which provides a peaceful haven for birds and wildlife. The garden also benefits from a handy outdoor WC. Beyond the gardens, you will have access to the neighbouring 5-acre paddock which is dog friendly with no live stock around. Mowed pathways through and around the paddock which is perfect for a grounding bare foot walk where you can follow a path towards the River Lune and the Dales Way. Seating is available at the top of a hillock opposite the farm with beautiful 360 degree views - perfect for enjoying quiet moments. The river at the bottom of the paddock also offers the opportunity for wild swimming too. Overall the property is great for wellbeing offering stunning views of the Howgill Fells and a peaceful yet accessible location.
