A Grade II-listed former school house is the essence of heart-warming Yorkshire country living, offering spacious accommodation for six guests, enjoying both rural and coastal walks nearby.

This cottage is nestled in the quaint Fylingthorpe, a village with a traditional pub serving meals and a convenience store. It’s less than a mile from Robin Hood’s Bay, a picturesque old fishing village on the Heritage Coast of the North York Moors, which is a fantastic place for adults and children alike – don’t forget to visit the dog-friendly sandy beach. Meander the cobbled streets of the vibrant village, with a wide range of cafes, pubs, restaurants, small shops and places to explore, as well as many stunning coastal and country walks, cycle paths and bridleways right on the doorstep. Pick a section of the cinder track, an off-route trail for cycling, and travel north to Whitby (6 miles) or south to Scarborough (15 miles).

A fine, Grade II-listed, former school house crammed with character behind its stone exterior retaining much of its period charm such as pretty mullioned windows, fireplaces and spirelet. Step through the charming front door and be welcomed into a hallway, then head through to the bespoke kitchen to find all your catering essentials with electric hob and oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, coffee machine and microwave. Enjoy your meal in the dining room warmed by the heat of the wood burner, which creates a very cosy feel. After dinner, get even cosier in the lounge; here you can relax upon an evening, catching up on your favourite shows courtesy of the smart TV, with an alluring wood burner to warm you up. Completing the ground floor is a separate WC. As the day turns to night, climb the stairs and choose between three well-appointed bedrooms, two king-size and one twin room. There are two bathrooms; a shower room with a walk-in shower, and a bathroom with bath, separate shower, WC and fabulous views.

Enjoy your morning brew outside in the small courtyard. The outside utility room is a handy area complete with an outdoor shower, washing machine and dryer – perfect if you, or your furry companion return from the beach with lots of sand. On-street parking outside, subject to availability.

Lovely quaint old stone house in a small typical North Yorks village, 15 minutes from Robin Hoods Bay. Very cosy evenings in with a real wood stove fire. Host left us some very considerate welcome goodies. We had a great stay here.

It would be useful to show a floor plan of the cottage. We believed that the master bedroom benefitted from an ensuite bathroom. However, in reality, whilst there was a separate shower, the room was not connected to the master bedroom, nor did it have a sink and toilet, which meant that to clean your teeth, you either had to queue for the main bathRead moreroom, or clean your teeth in the sink in the Kitchen or downstairs toilet.
