Dating from the 1800’s, this stylish property is a great choice for a family holiday whatever the season. It boasts a village setting and easy access to some of the county’s best loved attractions.

Ideally placed for touring the Jurassic Coast, Winfrith Newburgh is well serviced with local amenities and is within 5 miles of both Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. The village is 10 miles east of the county town, Dorchester, or you could visit historic Wareham 8 miles to the west. Here you can walk within the old walls or enjoy lunch beside the river. Those looking for a family family-friendly day out can visit the Sea L life centre in Weymouth or Swannery in Abbotsbury. Corfe Castle is also well worth a visit too and is home to castle ruins cared for by the National Trust. You can often find steam trains running between here and the seaside town of Swanage, and all these attractions are within a 20 20-mile radius.

From the parking area, you can enter this charming, detached holiday home from the rear garden and enter the boot room. This is the ideal space to leave muddy footwear and coats. Next is the lovely kitchen/diner. This spacious and sociable room has an electric AGA as well as an electric oven and hob. There is also a microwave, American-style fridge/freezer and dishwasher. You can enjoy leisurely meals at the table just opposite or take your coffee into the beautiful conservatory, which has a grapevine weaving across the ceiling. Next to the kitchen is a useful utility room with WC, washing machine and tumble dryer. A hallway leads from here to the games room with table football and air hockey and a play room for younger guests. Heading back into the centre of the house is a cosy reading area within the snug, complete with a wood burner and a door to the inviting lounge, which has a Smart TV and wood burner. Heading upstairs from the snug takes you to the first floor. At the top of the stairs is a bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC, and three of the four bedrooms. There is a king-size bedroom, a cosy bunk room, and a twin. At the end of the landing is a stylish king-size bedroom with Juliet balcony and en-suite bathroom, complete with freestanding bath, separate shower and WC. There are doors from the dining area, lounge, conservatory and boot room that lead into the garden.

Outside there is a patio with a fantastic outdoor kitchen, including a gas BBQ and wood wood-fired pizza oven, table and chairs for dining, as well as relaxed seating including sun loungers and a sofa. Younger guests are well catered for with a rustic play area complete with a tree house, climbing wall, mud kitchen, swing, slide, and sunken trampoline. To the side of the property is a gated parking area with space for three cars and an electric vehicle charging point.

  • 4 bedrooms – 2 king-size, 1 twin and 1 bunk room (restricted headroom, more suitable for children/young adults)

We really enjoyed our stay at Brook House. The trampoline, swing and tree house were a huge hit with our children and the characterful cottage was lovely to relax in. To arrive to a food hamper was lovely and we enjoyed the extra perks of things like a coffee machine. We would definitely stay here again.
