Set at the southern tip of Snowdonia and overlooking the beautiful Dyfi Estuary, this fresh and airy fisherman’s cottage is a lovely retreat for families making the most of this stunning coastal area.

Set on the northern coast of the River Dyfi, the picturesque harbour resort of Aberdyfi (also known as Aberdovey) has miles of sandy beaches and a championship golf course, and is a great spot for a range of water sports including sailboarding, rowing, canoeing, and sailing. The village hosts yachting regattas in the summer and is popular with surfers and anglers. Aberdyfi has a choice of independent shops, pubs and restaurants serving local seafood, and makes a great base for keen walkers and climbers exploring the southern reaches of the Snowdonia National Park. The cottage lies in the Penhelig area, ideally situated close to a popular village pub, with the Old Roman Road and a Cambrian Coast railway halt nearby.

Stepping into this bright and inviting holiday home, the ground floor features a spacious and welcoming open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. With beautiful slate flooring, TV, DVD, plenty of seating and a coal-effect gas fire, the cosy lounge is an ideal space for everyone to unwind in at the end of a wonderful day. The dining area is just by the French doors, and the kitchen has a wide range of useful equipment including a dishwasher, fridge with small ice compartment, electric oven with gas hob, microwave and a washing machine. Heading up to the first floor, there’s a pretty south-facing twin bedroom with views out to sea. The tumble dryer and ironing board can be found in the landing cupboard. Steep-angled cottage-style stairs without handrails lead up to the second floor. Here you will find a fresh and relaxing double bedroom with fabulous sea views from the porthole-style window. This floor also features a stylish bathroom complete with a shower over the bath and a WC.

From the lounge, a sunny front terrace features garden furniture and makes a lovely spot for al fresco dining. External steps lead up to a decked area with built-in bench seating and stunning views over the estuary and out across Cardigan Bay. A free car pass is provided for the local pay and display car parks – one is just 150 metres from the cottage, and the other is by the beach in the centre of the village.

This is a stylish, well-kept cottage in a stunning location - absolutely fantastic views and an easy walk to good pubs and restaurants. The best part of the cottage was the spacious front terrace - perfect for morning coffee, an evening drink, or even an informal meal. However, although we realised there was no parking, we did not realise that therRead moree was no possibility to drop off luggage and supplies at the house before continuing to the public car park 150 yards - and a steep hill - away. Quirky layout to this property but its functional. Loved the beach and friendly staff in the local restaurants and bars. All made us and our little dogs feel extremely welcome.

Perfect cottage for us in a lovely spot. We loved being near to the coast whilst being in Snowdonia and all that has to offer. We loved the train, spectacular journey. We used it as a lovely way to visit Harlech Castle. Recommend the Britannia Inn, independent pub, lovely food and lovely people.

Great cottage with super views and all necessary facilities. However, the steel stairs both inside and outside to deck would be a problem for the unfit and small children. Michael (York)
