Nestled in a tranquil setting with woodland walks on your doorstep, this attractive lodge is an ideal base for families in southern Snowdonia overlooking the Dyfi Estuary.
Surrounded by a tapestry of ancient woodland that once formed part of the Welsh Celtic Rainforest, this simply presented yet comfortable lodge sleeps six in complete solitude with an abundance of walks within easy reach. The ancient town of Machynlleth is 6 miles away for a day trip with a difference thanks to the eco-friendly vibe and bustling market. For those with a keen interest in history, Corris, 8 miles away, is an old mining town steeped in heritage complete with old mining workings and a popular craft centre that’s home to shops, attractions and activities. Beautiful Aberdovey is 3 miles away and promises a traditional day beside the seaside where the youngest visitors can build sandcastles on the golden sandy beach and try their hand at crabbing. For active-minded visitors, you’ll be spoiled for choice with the water sports on offer, and there is an 18-hole championship golf course if you prefer to stay firmly on dry land.
Enter via the porch to find a spacious hallway equipped with useful storage and a downstairs wet room, then step through to the kitchen to prepare a mug of something warm and soothing. Simply presented in a country cottage style, the kitchen has an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a microwave for cooking up a storm and clearing away afterwards. There’s even a breakfast bar for casual breakfasts whilst reading the papers. Next, the lounge/diner has full-length wooden-framed doors, comfortable furniture and a Smart TV with Netflix, plus a large dining table with ample seating for your party. Grab a bowl of buttery popcorn and watch your favourite films or challenge the family to an evening of board games at the table, warmed by the crackling wood burner. There is a single bedroom on the ground floor suitable for disabled access with a wet room close by. You’ll next find the stairs to the rear that lead up to the bedrooms and bathroom. The large bathroom has beamed ceilings, a roll-top bath, a separate shower and a WC, and the king-size bedroom has the added bonus of an en-suite shower room with disabled seat and WC. Completing this level is a super-king-size bedroom and a pretty twin room, both equipped with handy storage and bedroom furniture.
Outside, the paved sun terrace is safely enclosed. Pull up a chair and enjoy a glass of wine at sunset or gather everyone together to dine alfresco. There is also a summerhouse which is the ideal spot to sit and watch the tides roll in. Off-road parking is available to the front of the property, and from here there are oodles of woodland walks to investigate including a trail to walk to Lyn Barfog, the Bearded Lake. Opposite the property, there is a public grassed area also.
