Lympstone, known as one of Devon’s prettiest and sought after villages, is found on the stunning Jurassic coastline and has a handy village shop and three pubs. It is also under a mile’s walk from Lympstone Manor, with Michael Caine’s Michelin star restaurant. There are many lovely walks and cycle trails to enjoy from the cottage, including the 26-mile Exe Estuary Cycle Trail linking Lympstone with Exeter, Exmouth, Topsham, and Dawlish, as well as the South West Coastal Path. Catch the train direct from Lympstone village station to Torbay or the historic cathedral city of Exeter and enjoy wonderful views over the estuary. Other attractions include Powderham Castle (13 miles), Dart's Farm (3.5 miles), Killerton House (12.5 miles), Dartmoor National Park and the English Riviera.
Quietly tucked away, this unique and luxurious character cottage dates to the 1700s, oozes contemporary charm and thoughtful design. It accessed via a short footpath or directly from the beach shoreline. It boasts a wealth of original features, artwork, and bespoke lighting, and throughout the ground floor is a beautifully polished concrete floor with underfloor heating. On entering this impressive property, you will immediately find yourself in the bespoke kitchen and your eyes will be drawn towards the windows offering panoramic views directly out over the estuary. The kitchen is very well-equipped and offers a professional range cooker with two electric ovens and a five-ring gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and Tassimo coffee machine. From here, head into the snug/dining room which again enjoys incredible estuary views and is a fantastic space for enjoying mealtimes together with a large dining table. There is also a sofa where you can snuggle up with your favourite book in front of the dual-sided wood burner. Head into the spacious lounge which is a wonderfully relaxing space with comfy sofas, the dual-sided wood burner, and a Smart TV with Amazon Firestick, Netflix and Amazon Echo. Off the lounge is a utility room with a washing machine. There is also a shower room with a walk-in double shower and WC. Heading up to the first floor, there are two separate staircases both with steep cottage-style stairs, one of which leads from the lounge to two of the three bedrooms. Here you will find a lovingly furnished dual aspect double bedroom and a wonderful twin bedroom both with far-reaching views. There is also a useful separate WC. The second staircase leads from the snug/dining room to the third bedroom known as ‘The Cabin Master Suite’. This impressive double bedroom enjoys stunning views, a beautiful, vaulted ceiling, a bespoke chandelier, a sumptuous double-ended freestanding bath with a handheld shower attachment, a separate en-suite WC, and its own private balcony overlooking the water, perfect for sunset views and seating for two.
In addition to the private balcony, there is also an enclosed terrace with outside seating and a charcoal BBQ. Here you can dine alfresco during warm weather and soak up the fabulous scenery. The cottage also showcases an outdoor secret sunset passage which is accessed from the living room, with beautiful views of the water to be enjoyed with a glass of wine from a couple of two-seater benches. Watersports can be enjoyed straight from the door and Lympstone Sailing Club is 300 yards up the beach for those wanting to hire a boat. All year round swimmers and beach lovers can enjoy the locality of the sea next to the cottage. Parking is 200 yards away in a pay and display public car park. Free parking can also be found on some of the surrounding streets, subject to availability.
Dog are welcome all year on select parts of Exmouth Beach (3.5 miles). They can also enjoy the main part of the beach from October to the end of April. It’s a lovely spot that’s popular with kayakers, kite-surfers, walkers and wildlife enthusiasts. After a great day on the beach, head to Lympstone Manor (1 mile) and treat yourself to dinner at the Michelin-starred restaurant.
