The local health club and swimming pool are situated on the promenade and are the perfect way to relax and unwind. Edinburgh’s Botanical Gardens’ Himalayan and Bhutanese outpost of landscaped grounds is a must for any keen gardeners (11 miles). Just on from there, is the impressive Loch Eck – famed for being only one of two lochs in the world that host freshwater herring (Powan). A quieter and uncrowded place that offers the sights of dramatic scenery – without queues.

We had a wonderful week in the Old Milk Parlour. A beautiful cottage, great views over de Firth of Clyde (binoculars very thoughtfully provided!). Warm welcome from Duncan. Historic cottage but full of comfort and spacious design.

A great cottage in a great location overlooking the Clyde, surrounded by birds and trees. A great host, Duncan made us feel welcome, even before we arrived (the tot of whisky was very welcoming). The local walks are great and even the Scottish weather was kind to us.
