This characterful and quirky converted former railway carriage offers a couple the ideal escape where you can get away from it all and enjoy the tranquillity of the great outdoors.

Visiting North Norfolk offers an array of attractions all year round to suit all ages and tastes. The scenic coastline is within easy reach with quaint seaside towns full of cobbled streets and fishing boats as well as larger traditional towns such as Cromer with its pier and sandy beaches, only 11 miles away. Wroxham, the gateway to the 125 miles of waterways that make up the glorious Norfolk Broads is just 10 miles away and can be explored by a hired boat, foot or bicycle. A short drive brings you to the impressive National Trust Blickling Estate (3.5 miles), a breathtaking Jacobean mansion surrounded by historic parks. A short walk away is the River Bure which is great for kayaking.

As you park up next to your glamping retreat, take in the surroundings and views over the countryside before heading into your holiday home. Being a converted railway carriage it has an open-plan layout with one end housing a handcrafted (raised) double bed with a cute step up if needed, along with plenty of storage space underneath for your personal items. At the foot of the bed is a small TV/DVD player so you can catch up on your favourite movie of an evening (no aerial). In the morning, prepare a coffee in the kitchenette area which has everything you need for making a light snack or even an evening meal, complete with a plug-in convection hob, small oven and a fridge. The owner can provide space to freeze anything if needed. The quirky wooden door leads into the shower room which has a basin and WC, and the whole carriage is insulated with an electric heater making it cosy all year round including the chilly winter nights.

Outside, there is a gravel area with ample place to sit and enjoy the evening sun with a drink or two or while dining alfresco. There is a ‘Hobbit House’ BBQ hut which is fantastic and by prior arrangement with the owner, guests can book this to use at their leisure. Within the BBQ hut is a large fire pit with a chimney which adds to the whole outdoor experience and this is perfect for cosying up and cooking. There is allocated parking for one car.

Lovely site, cosy hut/carriage with within sound of whistling from Bure Valley railway. Quiet, relaxing, no wifi means rediscovering sounds of nature and time to sit and read or contemplate. Kettle, single induction hotplate and small oven keep cooking simple but possible. Close to Aylsham, Blicking, Felbrigg and Norwich, even the coast, if you canRead more drag yourself away from sitting in the orchard with a good book!. Hide

Immaculately clean, very well equipped and everything was very well thought out to make best use of the space. Really nice fittings and finish, it had everything we needed and a lovely comfy bed. Nice garden to sit in and watch a variety of birds singing. Nice and quiet as its away from major roads so a real chill out.

Excellent site for guests who want a completely relaxing break. The bird life is definitely florishing!! Highly recommended and a very different type of break but with full facilities. Exactly what my granddaughter and myself needed. I'll be back sooner rather than later. Thank you

First carriage is beautiful and really cosy. The setting is pretty with lots of birdsong. Aylsham is close by with shops and restaurants but First Carriage feels hidden away, down a little lane. A lovely relaxing stay. Thank you x
