A wonderfully presented former stable providing the perfect romantic retreat for couples to relax, unwind and explore beautiful countryside straight from the front door.

Set in the grounds of the owner’s home, tucked away in the picturesque village of Tockwith which is steeped in history. Tockwith is famed for its role in the English Civil War and lies just 1.5 miles from Marston Moor where one of the biggest battles ever on British soil took place. The area is a paradise for walkers and cyclists with an abundance of tracks and trails straight from the doorstep. The vibrant city of York is just 9 miles away where you can browse the cobbled streets, take a stroll around the ancient city walls, or visit one of the renowned museums, including the Jorvik Viking Centre. For a spot of retail therapy, the popular spa town of Harrogate (13 miles) can be reached in just over half an hour.

This beautiful single-level accommodation has been wonderfully converted from a former stable, retaining beams and many original features. As you enter the property you are greeted by a bright and spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Relax on the comfortable sofas and watch a movie on the Smart TV or take a seat around the dining table and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. The kitchen area is stylish and fully equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with ice compartment, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Along the corridor you will find a well-appointed king-size bedroom, filled with light from the large windows. To complete the interior is an elegant bathroom with shower over the bath and WC.

Stepping outside, you can enjoy a morning coffee from the private patio and relax in the summer sun. Guests also have shared use of the owner’s extensive garden. There is off-road parking for one car and a garage for secure cycle storage on request.

We had a lovely 7 night stay in The Lodge Barn at Tockwith. It is in a very pretty and peaceful location, ideally situated for touring the Yorkshire coast, moors & dales as well as being on the doorstep for easy park & ride access into York.

This lovely cottage is set in a quiet village, good location for visiting York. Great walks from the doorstep. Handy local shop. Friendly and helpful hosts.

The cottage was everything we expected, character meets contemporary. The location perfect, peaceful & calming. The hourly chimes from the nearby church sounded wonderful. Sasha & Richard ( owners) were welcoming, friendly & discreet. But to have them close by was reassuring just in case of any problems. We toured around the whole area and to returRead moren each evening to Lodge Barn was lovely. Hide
