The cottage was beautifully decorated and recently renovated. Gwen and her family were wonderful hosts and we enjoyed meeting the various animals on their farm and the courtyard outside the house was lovely. It's a great base for Carlisle, the coast at Allonby/Maryport and the Northern parts of the Lake District but there isn't much in the immediatRead moree area and we used the car for everything. This did mean it was very peaceful though and well away from other tourists and traffic. Hide

A beautiful cottage on a dairy farm. Was really lovely with chickens and ducks strolling around as well and access to fresh farm eggs without having to leave the farm. The welcome package was a delight with homemade jams, fresh milk and some goodies. The little details in the cottage made it feel homey with all the little creature comforts like soaRead moreps and shampoos provided but also washing up liquid etc. We loved the our stay. Hide
