Relax in this woodland lodge near Sherwood Forest.

Sherwood Forest is steeped in history with the most famous tree in Sherwood Forest being the Major Oak which is about 800 years old, and was said the be the hiding place for Robin Hood. Explore the miles of cycle paths or hire bikes at Sherwood Pines, just 5 miles away, and choose from a wide selection of trails of varying difficulty. Why not take a trip to Thoresby Estate, just 2 miles away? The 3,800-acre Clumber Park is a National Trust site 7.5 miles away with a variety of habitats to discover, complete with lake, playpark and kitchen garden.

A charming, rustic open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is the heart of this lodge retreat. Cosy up on the sofas in front of the Smart TV while the electric wood burner-effect fire creates a warming atmosphere. The kitchen is well equipped and offers an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and microwave. Catch and dine at the table together or use the space to play board games on a rainy day. The patio doors let the light flood in and allow the sounds of the forest into your lodge. There is a king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room with WC, a twin bedroom, and a family bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC.

Outside, relax on the decking where you will find your bubbling hot tub, perfect for a special holiday treat. Dine alfresco with a BBQ and outdoor furniture set on the decking, and there is off-road parking for two cars.

The Lodge was basic but fairly clean. Could do with some repairs. The main issue we had was ground staff had been instructed to strim around the lodge whilst we were in. This petrified my dog. When asked politely if it could wait & I was met with rude abuse & an absolutely awful attitude. The strimmer was going all morning on our first day, waking Read moreus up. The same ground staff decided to also try and cut a hedge behind our lodge which meant we didn't feel like we could use the hot tub. Hide

Decor tired and dull. No bread knife, no bulb or instructions for fire or heating. Dodgy flush on toilet. Advise taking torch as no outdoor lighting on site.

So surprised at how spacious yet homely the lodge was. Nicely decorated and well equipped. Beds were very comfortable. We were met with dog treats and towel for our Ted, a nice touch. Cottage is a lovely setting although understand site has just been taken over and unfortunately there are now no walks direct from site and a car is needed ie all footpaths were padlocked closed! The accommodation itself was lovely, warm and cosy and jacuzzi was fabulous and clean!
