Detached property located at the top of the beautiful Tarset Valley on a 60-acre estate of Northumberland countryside, bordered by forest. Northumberland National Park is on the doorstep offering a myriad of walking and cycling routes, wildlife encounters, and picturesque views. This is an internationally-recognised Dark Sky Park territory where you can see millions of stars and the Andromeda Galaxy from everywhere. Visit Kielder Forest and Water Park (20 miles) for water sports, cycling and walking trails, and book the Observatory for evening stargazing. It’s less than half mile’s walk to Black Middens Bastle House, the ancient two-storey dwelling. Greenhaugh (3.5 miles) has a pub/restaurant and Bellingham (7 miles) has shops, pubs, restaurants, the Hareshaw Linn walk and a waterfall.

Steps take you up to the front door of the East Wing of this unique property and into a light and spacious hallway. The TV/Games room is just off the hallway with plenty of comfortable seating, a Smart TV, a range of board games, and ordnance survey maps to help plan your days out. Head through double doors into the main lounge and bar area which provides the social hub of the house. This large space is bright and welcoming with beautiful stone feature walls and is furnished with several comfortable leather sofas and a range of coffee tables so you can sit with a drink and catch up with one another or relax with a book. There is a bar area at the far end of the lounge with its own fridge to chill your drinks. Sit on a bar stool while the family bartender pours your favourite tipple. French doors lead out to a balcony with garden furniture and lovely views of the valley. The well-equipped kitchen/diner provides everything you need for preparing your own meals, including a range-style gas six-burner hob and electric double oven, a fridge/freezer, a built-in microwave, two dishwashers, and a walk-in pantry. French doors lead out to the courtyard. The casual dining area has a large breakfast table with bench seating and there is a wood burner set in an inglenook fireplace for cosy evenings playing games at the table. There is also a separate WC and a rear door leading out to the car parking area. The formal dining room is perfect for special occasions and celebrations with a long table and seating for up to twenty-six guests. There is another WC off this room. There are five bedrooms located on the ground floor in this area of the house; a generous family bedroom for four with a king-size bed and wooden paddle stairs leading to a mezzanine floor with twin beds. The en-suite has a wet-room-style shower and WC. Another king-size bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a bath, shower, and WC and French doors leading to a balcony and superb views. There are two twins and a single bedroom, each with an en-suite shower and WC (one of the twin rooms has a step up to en-suite). On the first floor of the East Wing you will find two further bedrooms; a single with an en-suite shower and WC and a king-size bedroom with an en-suite bath, shower, and WC. Each of these bedrooms has a couple of steps leading to the large balcony which offers superb views of the valley and surrounding countryside by day and is a perfect spot for tranquil star gazing by night. An open-tread spiral staircase leads off this balcony to the ground floor. The remaining three bedrooms are accessed via the courtyard. The external open-tread staircase leads up to three bright and airy bedrooms in the West Wing; each with a contemporary en-suite shower and WC. Two of these rooms have twin beds, one with access to a balcony and there is a king-size bedroom with access to a small balcony.

Outside, to the front of the property, there is a ground-floor balcony off the bar/lounge area with seating, the large, first-floor balcony (accessed via two of the bedrooms) provides an amazing viewing point. There is a large garden table and bench seating in one section of the garden that is perfect for alfresco dining, a central courtyard with bench seating for morning coffee and you are welcome to explore the estate’s 60 acres of open countryside and woodland.

This is an amazing location with lots of room for a large family. There are a few tired areas but you can see the owners are working there way around with improvements.

This is a great place to stay if you appreciate peace, quiet and seclusion and good quality accommodation. The bedrooms are excellent with en-suite facilities and (with one exception) provided excellent warm showers. The lounge facilies are reminiscent of a small good quality officers mess and the kitchen well equipped for catering up to 20 people.Read more There is an attractive courtyard and plenty of places to sit and relax. The dining hall is like something out of a Harry Potter film! Outstanding! Hide

Perfect for groups and families who like their own space to relax or party. Ensure you take everything you need as shops in the village are small and not well stocked, not open on Bank holidays. If it is important to you recycling rubbish is not available so we brought our tins, bottles & cardboard home for recycling.
