This lovingly decorated cottage offers a wonderful family escape to the country, set in a great location for walkers, cyclists and those who truly appreciate nature.

Tucked away in the parish of Mallerstang in a scenic and peaceful location, this cottage enjoys stunning views. Walks and cycle trails are abundant straight from the doorstep, including the Pennine Way, Wild Boar Fell, and High Seat, so it’s a walker’s paradise! Visit the ancient ruins of Pendragon Castle, steeped in the legend surrounding King Arthur, less than half a mile from the cottage. The old market town of Kirkby Stephen is just 4 miles away, set at the foot of the Howgill Fells in the upper Eden Valley, between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. Here you can browse a wealth of quirky shops, bars, and eateries, or enjoy a picnic where ‘Frank’s Bridge’ crosses the River Eden.

Dust off your muddy boots and coats as you step into the entrance hall of this charming cottage. Bursting with character and with beams throughout, you will feel instantly at home in the comfortable lounge. Cosy up on the sofas in front of the open fire and watch a movie on the Smart TV after a day of exploring. Moving through to the spacious kitchen/diner, you will find a lovely dining area with a farmhouse-style table set in front of a wood burner. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need, including an Aga, electric oven and hob, fridge, and coffee machine. There is a handy utility room off the kitchen with a microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, and tumble dryer. Heading upstairs are the first two bedrooms: a double and a single, both with breathtaking views over the surrounding countryside. There is also a large and stylish family bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC. Climb the final set of stairs to find the third bedroom, a king-size with plenty of space and a TV with a Wii console to keep the family entertained on a rainy day.

At the rear of the cottage is an enclosed patio area with panoramic views of the rolling countryside that surrounds you. Relax and enjoy a glass of wine whilst gazing up at the stars in this special location. There is roadside parking for one car and additional parking in a lay-by (subject to availability).

Beautiful, well equipped cottage in a superb location. Lovely long walks from the doorstep or short drive away. We took our teenager and springer. Both very happy too despite rainy weather. King size bed was incredibly comfortable- best weeks sleep for a long time.

We were very happy to stay in this cozy cottage, which is situated in a very quiet area (shops are about ten minutes drive, EV drivers might need to do some planning ahead of time). It's a perfect location for local walks or trips further afield. It was very comfortable, clean and well appointed, and we loved the view out back & chatting with the fRead moreriendly neighbours. We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage is a great base for some fantastic walks in wensleydale and swaledale, and is a comfortable, well equipped home to return to. Would happily recommend and return ourselves.

Again, please see above. These are really annoying and such a shame as the cottage is lovely and we had a great time but I would not stay there in the winter if these issues are not sorted. I would recommended but please can these issues be fixed as it really detracts from the over all enjoyment.

We had a wonderful stay at Castle Cottages. The house is stunning and the Aga made the kitchen and downstairs so cosy and warm. Bathroom is huge and the shower is powerful. The bedrooms are all very comfy too but you can hear ever foot fall upstairs (which is fine as I can sleep through anything myself). The views are stunning and we worked out quiRead moreckly where we could walk our pooch off lead (NO where near any sheep). The cottage is in a great location for getting around NE England. Hide

Beautiful and peaceful location, lots of walks from the door. Apart from a trip to walk on the nearby Howgills we just parked the car and set out on foot everywhere. A lovely quiet spot for relaxing and getting away from the crowds. The cottage was very comfy and cosy and felt very homely. We loved the porch black of night, the owls calling and the views from the front and rear of the cottage.

Well worth the money. Very comfortable and in a good location for several walks whether on the doorstep or travelling out a bit further in the car. Only downside is a lack of a confined outside space but aside from that this was great value.

What a wonderful cosy cottage. It worked really well for us as a family of four. There was enough space to both be together but also to have the space apart! The cottage is very homely and well organised but also feels fresh and high quality. Hotel style bedding etc. We cook in a lot (nut allergy in the family) so it was really lovely to be in a beRead moreautiful and well equipped kitchen with a good oven etc. Views are beautiful from the cottage and the patio is a lovely space to sit.
