Travel another 18 miles and you’ll reach the fishing town of Whitby or you can travel there by steam train on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, taking in some beautiful moorland scenery on the way. A little further down the coast is Scarborough (23 miles) with its two sandy beaches, amusements and castle.
