Less than 5 miles from the Lake District National Park, surrounded by open countryside with some lovely walks from your front door. The pretty Heritage Coast is less than 10 miles away, and St Bees is well worth a visit, the starting point of the Wainwright’s Coast to Coast walk. You’ll find a long sand and pebble beach, where you can enjoy a swim or take an early morning walk. There is also a lovely promenade and coffee shop. Take a train from St Bees and explore the great Border city of Carlisle or go south and visit the famous La’al Ratty for the day. Ennerdale water is 8 miles away. Even in high season it’s a great place to escape with crystal clear water and forest walks.

This first-floor studio accommodation is set within the grounds of the owner’s home, although privacy is ensured. Entering the property, you will find hooks at the bottom of the stairs to store your coats. The bright spacious open-plan studio offers you a warm welcome, with a huge picture window overlooking the fields and garden. The beams are exposed on the ceiling and the room is flooded with light. There is a double bed, and a comfy sofa to curl up on and watch a good movie on the wall-mounted Smart TV. Enjoy your breakfast at the table looking out across the fields and garden and you are bound to catch a glimpse of the local wildlife and even the resident red squirrels and woodpeckers. The kitchen area is well equipped, and the bathroom is off the lounge opposite the bedroom area.

The garden is shared with the owners but there is a private seating area opposite the entrance where you can enjoy a morning coffee or read a good book. The pièce de resistance is the private heated pool (24’ x 9’), sauna, and hot tub, located in the owner’s basement. This is available for you to use each night from 5pm to 7pm exclusively, and is accessed via an external door from the garden area, so bring a robe with you to walk across.

Was lovely to wake up in the morning to see the sheep in the fields and the red querriels climbing the trees. Toured everywhere as never been before. Stairs a little problem as dog fell down on first day but lucky it was ok. People friendly in the village.

The Studio at Stackwood is set in a peaceful location, within easy reach of the Lakes and the coast. A bonus is the use of the owner's pool, sauna & hot tub, from 5.00 to 7.00 every evening. The owners are very welcoming and helpful. I would recommend this property as a base for exploring the Lake District and Cumbrian coast.

Lovely stay away, beautifully kept, bird watching through the windows was brilliant and good view of the sheep! Hot tub and sauna were a fab addition, one of the main reasons we booked here. Found it abit difficult to find as satnav stopped before location (mentioned to studio owners and they will be adding more info/directions for people staying).

The location of the studio was lovely, loads of places to take the dogs out walking for miles. There was a really helpful guide book when we arrived that was filled with dog friendly local attractions too. And after all of the walking it was fab to have a good chill out in the hot tub and sauna.
