Venture less than a mile towards the 18th-century gothic Kielder Castle for the friendly village pub/restaurant. Meander through the Minotaur Maze and visit the popular street food diner within the castle grounds. The local garage sells some essentials, and the nearest shops are 6 miles away, so please come prepared. Two more pubs/restaurants are in Falstone and Shilling Pot (9 miles). Hire a bike to explore the myriad of mountain bike trails and children can follow the Gruffalo Spotters’ Trail. Explore the 26-mile Lakeside Way spotting wonderful wildlife and birds, and enjoy the night-time splendours of the starry sky with Kielder Observatory 3 miles away.
Access to this welcoming cottage is through the front door into a small hallway. Head into the bright and inviting lounge where you can rest weary legs after exploring this stunning area and the many visitor attractions. Relax on the comfortable seating to enjoy a cosy evening in front of the fire watching your favourite shows on the Smart TV. The well-equipped kitchen/diner has everything you need to plan and enjoy your meals. There is a separate utility/boot room area perfect for storing your outdoor clothing and boots, and the back door leads out to the extensive gardens. At bedtime, head upstairs to find the two attractive bedrooms, one with a double bed and a TV that’s perfect for a long lie-in, and a twin bedroom with lovely garden views – both bedrooms boast a charming feature fireplace. The accommodation is completed by the pretty family bathroom.
Outside, steps from the back door lead to the long, lawned garden with mature trees and shrubs – a wonderful place for games. Enjoy cooking on the BBQ and dine alfresco in warmer months under the summer pagoda. Unwind with a drink on the bench seating to watch the many visiting birds by day and gaze up at the super-starry sky at night. Head through the garden gate at the far end to find another ‘secret’ garden area, which leads out to a lovely walk and into the forest. Bike lovers can store bikes in the cycle store.
