This well-equipped cottage offers warm and welcoming home-from-home comfort in a beautiful and peaceful location within Kielder Water and Forest Park. Venture less than a mile towards the 18th-century gothic Kielder Castle for the friendly village pub/restaurant. Meander through the Minotaur Maze and visit the popular street food diner within the castle grounds. The local garage sells some essentials, and the nearest shops are 6 miles away, so please come prepared. Two more pubs/restaurants are in Falstone and Shilling Pot (9 miles). Hire a bike to explore the myriad of mountain bike trails and children can follow the Gruffalo Spotters’ Trail. Explore the 26-mile Lakeside Way spotting wonderful wildlife and birds, and enjoy the night-time splendours of the starry sky with Kielder Observatory 3 miles away.

Access to this welcoming cottage is through the front door into a small hallway. Head into the bright and inviting lounge where you can rest weary legs after exploring this stunning area and the many visitor attractions. Relax on the comfortable seating to enjoy a cosy evening in front of the fire watching your favourite shows on the Smart TV. The well-equipped kitchen/diner has everything you need to plan and enjoy your meals. There is a separate utility/boot room area perfect for storing your outdoor clothing and boots, and the back door leads out to the extensive gardens. At bedtime, head upstairs to find the two attractive bedrooms, one with a double bed and a TV that’s perfect for a long lie-in, and a twin bedroom with lovely garden views – both bedrooms boast a charming feature fireplace. The accommodation is completed by the pretty family bathroom.

Outside, steps from the back door lead to the long, lawned garden with mature trees and shrubs – a wonderful place for games. Enjoy cooking on the BBQ and dine alfresco in warmer months under the summer pagoda. Unwind with a drink on the bench seating to watch the many visiting birds by day and gaze up at the super-starry sky at night. Head through the garden gate at the far end to find another ‘secret’ garden area, which leads out to a lovely walk and into the forest. Bike lovers can store bikes in the cycle store.

Amazing property, very welcoming, lovely decor and immaculate. Settees were firm and comfortable and the beds offered a great nights sleep. Lots of information readily available on all appliances, local attractions as well as plenty of games for the younger ones too. What a fantastic autumnal stay at Allans Cottage. Excellently equipped kitchen and utility room, very clean, and other facilities were brilliant. All information set out in the folder in the dining room sideboard was really helpful. I have stayed at many holiday cottages, but this one was by far the best. It was comfortable and well equipped and in a good location, if a bit remote. Internet was good but no phone signal. A blessing in disguise. I would recommend this cottage highly.

Absolutely beautiful cottage. The fully enclosed, large garden was perfect for our two spaniels. You could take walks from the door or travel to different points around the lake and then walk. My second stay at the cottage. I first came in June this year with my elderly dog, Blaze. I booked the cottage again so that my partner could come with us, as she was away with friends when we went. Unfortunately, Blaze died in July, so he wasn't with us this time. We did however, bring Luka and Leiro, our two new rescue dogs. Has everything you need for a self catering break away. Dog towel is a genius idea! The welcome biscuits and non alcoholic drink an unexpected treat. Ideal location for Forrest walks and good base for exploring Kielder and surrounding areas.

Lovely cottage and garden. The dogs loved it! We loved the welcome gift of refreshing elderflower fizz and the very nice cookies. We also appreciated the milk, tea and coffee. After a long journey it was very good to have a cuppa before we unpacked the car.

This was our second stay at Allan's Cottage, both times we have been so pleased as a family to stay here and will certainly be back. You just can not beat having Kielder Forest and Water on your doorstep. Its a great base for Mountain Biking or walking, the property is well equipped and the garden is huge and secure, Im also a fan of the dedicated Read moreparking spaces outside of the property which is always helpful. This is our 2nd stay at Allans Cottage. This is a lovely peaceful place to stay in the heart of Kielder. Highly recommended if you want to visit the area. Owners are always helpful. Garden is large and very secure for your dogs. Looking forward to booking next year.

We arrived to find this cottage very warm and cosy with everything that you need. The property is ideal for visiting the Observatory which we did the day we arrived, being only about 3 miles journey. We really enjoyed our stay at Allan's Cottage. The cottage is clean and well equipped. The garden is gorgeous and well enclosed - perfect for the dog. Due to the location there are midges - take bug spray so you can enjoy the garden into the evening! The area is beautiful and very quiet. It is perfect for wildlife spotting. Very peaceful area and the garden space at this cottage is amazing, especially if you have dogs. We found the cottage well equipped and we were impressed that the Wi-Fi was as good as it was.

It was a great holiday cottage - a lot of thought and care had gone into providing everything and more that could be needed to guests. The secure garden was great for our dog, a fantastic base for the area, and the owners were so helpful throughout. We were made to feel very welcome and had a great break. Charming neighbours too!

This is a modern semi in an exceptionally quiet residential area. It was beautifully looked after, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Even our mini-daxies failed to escape from the huge lawned garden. We would definitely return - even the midges were tolerable!

This was booked at the last minute and we are so glad we picked it. The cottage and garden are amazing. The garden is secure for dogs and a really good size plus you have all the walks on the doorstep in and around Kielder forest and water. Everything was spotlessly clean and it was great to come back to after a day walking around the area. Allan's cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and contained everything we needed. It has a large enclosed garden which is ideal for any kind of dog, our lurchers couldn't escape despite seeing lots of things to chase! It is ideally placed as a base for walking the national park. Nice, neat and tidy cottage with tremendous garden. Lovely owner and a great location particularly if you are going to the Dark Skies Observatory. Warm and cosy with a great feeling of being away from it all.
