In the village of Winskill in the Eden Valley situated between the North Pennines and Lake District, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village boasts a fantastic play park across from the property which younger visitors will love, also a heated outdoor swimming pool (open from May to September). Visit Lacy’s Caves (6 miles) or enjoy a lovely walk following a loop to ‘Long Meg and her daughters’ – a huge Neolithic stone circle and along the River Eden. The Rheged Centre, sits in England’s largest grass-covered building (9 miles), enjoy exhibitions, a movie, or take part in one of the creative classes on offer. From the neighbouring village of Melmerby (3 miles), take to two wheels and tackle the Hartside Pass and visit Alston England’s highest market town, with cobbled streets and quaint buildings. Enjoy a train ride on the famous Settle to Carlisle railway line, Langwathby station is less than 2 miles away.

As you walk into the property you will find yourself in the bright hallway with the lounge on the left with its Smart TV and space to play board games. A snug opposite with a bookcase and sofa, is the perfect place to read or do a crossword. There is a handy downstairs WC in the hallway which has storage for coats. The bright open-plan kitchen/diner with bi-folding doors sits at the end of the hallway and this room offers a great social space to catch up and make plans for the days ahead. Off the kitchen area, you will find a utility room. Head upstairs to the first floor where there is a master king-size, en-suite bedroom with a Juliet balcony. There is a second king-size bedroom, a twin and also a zip and link king-size bed (which can be made up as twin beds on request). There is a family bathroom mid-landing and a handy storage cupboard which is ideal for storing your luggage.

On a nice day, open the bi-folding doors and enjoy al fresco dining on the patio. The enclosed garden has stunning panoramic views over the fields and fells, you may even have the odd visit over the fence by some cows and sheep in the surrounding fields.

Lovely part of the world and the property lived up to our expectations. It had all the facilities we needed. The hosts were extrememly helpful. The communication between us was timely and all the information was accurate. I would recommend for a quiet break.

Beautiful house, clean, very spacious and modern. There was 8 of us and a dog and had plenty of room. Everything we needed was at the house, well equipped. Owners communicated really well and were very helpful and friendly. We would definitely recommend this property. Weve had a wonderful holiday exploring various places and would return.

A beautiful cottage with everything one could need for a break. A lovely place to spend quality time with my family - 5 adults, 3 children and 2 dogs - should have been bedlam but was very enjoyable. Close to towns for shopping and amenities.

Lovely house in a great peaceful location with good views. Great enclosed back garden with patio. Fantastic facilities, could not have wished for anything more. This is a fabulous property in a lovely village. It was an ideal location for us for a family get together as it was halfway between the Midlands and Central Scotland. The property is very new. Lovely owners really nice and friendly on hand if you need anything . The house is spacious and has a lovely big kitchen where we all congregated when we were in the property. Location is central to visit various places in the lakes . I stayed at the cottage with My wife and 6 children and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the kids keep asking to go back! we will definitely be booking again. Xmas break, we stayed for one week from 22nd Dec. What a beautiful setting. The house is overlooking the farmers fields , with a view of the Pennines. Crossfell Retreat is a beautiful house in an even more beautiful setting. We had an amazing weekend and couldn't fault anything. The house was perfect for a family weekend, with different generations coming from different parts of the UK. It was spacious, comfortable and well equipped, and had everything we needed. Beautiful luxury home with everything you need there. Had a week with family and 3 small children, we had the best time! Kids played for hours in the garden and park which is 2 minute walk away, also the outdoor pool close by which is amazing, (although wouldnt recommend on a cold day). We loved our stay at Crossfell Retreat it is a home away from home, everything provided that you may need, and a fully equipped kitchen. Beautiful views, very relaxing place to stay with lots of lovely days out only a few miles away. We wished we had booked for longer. We will definitely be back.

Great location, beautiful house and perfect views. We stayed as a family of 8 and enjoyed every second. The grandkids were safe in the enclosed garden, so were the dogs. Fantastic property had absolutely everything we needed and was immaculate.Excellent for dog owners as the garden was completely fenced in so no worries about letting them out.Stunning countryside and beautiful views,would highly recommend.
