The hamlet of Warenton offers a peaceful haven with lovely views of the rolling Northumberland countryside and its dark, starry skies. The stunning coastline is within view from the lane and the mile-wide Budle Bay with its array of bird life is just a short drive (4.5 miles). Bamburgh Castle (7 miles) with its expanse of sandy beach, the Grace Darling Museum and popular village shops, bars and restaurants are also worth a visit. There are pubs in nearby Chatton (4 miles) and Belford (3.5 miles). Enjoy walking and cycling from the doorstep and water sports on Beadnell Bay (13.5 miles). Head to Holy Island (15 miles) to see Lindisfarne Priory, take a boat trip from the harbour at Seahouses (10 miles) to the Farne islands and visit Alnwick Castle and Gardens (14.5 miles).

Enter this welcoming, stone-built former mill house to find a bright and spacious hallway where you can store your outdoor clothing and walking boots. There is also a utility cupboard off the hallway housing the washing machine. This property retains plenty of character with thoughtful touches from the owners including exposed beams and high ceilings, and you will see the original mill press as an interesting feature. Head through to the sociable, open-plan kitchen/dining space where you can sit around the large, farmhouse-style table to plan your activities and catch up with one another, whilst the family cook gets on with preparing tasty meals. The lounge is filled with natural light and offers lovely views across the south-facing garden to wide, open countryside. After long days exploring the area, enjoy relaxing on comfortable seating in front of the cosy wood burner with your after-dinner drinks, or settle in for a movie night on the Smart TV. There is a delightful twin bedroom just off the hallway with views of the garden and a family shower room with a shower cubicle and WC. Upstairs, there are two further bedrooms for a peaceful night’s sleep; both with king-size beds, vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, and plenty of storage space. One has an en-suite bathroom offering sea views with a bath and WC and the other has an en-suite shower and WC.

Outside, the long garden is south facing with a lawn and a patio area. Extend your day by dining alfresco whilst sitting and looking up at the beautiful starry night sky with a bedtime drink. Cyclists can store bikes in the bike shed.

We had a wonderful time staying in this cottage. It is very pretty on the outside with an enclosed garden - useful for children and dogs. It is beautiful inside - well decorated with some lovely art work. It was so nice to be provided with tea, coffee etc and to have lots of cooking and storage basics provided. The views over surrounding countrysidRead moree are stunning. Although located in a small hamlet it is easy to get to places by car including food shops. Hide

This is one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in - if not the best! The kitchen is spacious and well equipped and we have never slept in a more comfortable bed. The area has so much to offer with beaches close by. The owner of the cottage was brilliant at communicating with us - I really cannot praise this place highly enough!
