Historic Belford is a former coaching town located close to the glorious Northumberland National Park and almost equidistant between Alnwick Castle and Gardens and Berwick’s market town and train station (14.5 miles) for day trips to Edinburgh and Newcastle. The friendly village is well served by shops, pubs, and eateries, including a cafe/delicatessen selling delicious local treats. Walkers and cyclists can explore nearby St. Cuthbert’s ‘Cuddy’s’ Cave (6.5 miles), numerous scenic routes from Wooler (9 miles), and within the National Park. Visit Chillingham and discover Ford and Etal Estates for great family attractions and beautiful countryside (15 miles). Drive to Bamburgh Castle on the stunning coastline with its beach, golf club, village shops, pubs and restaurants (5.6 miles) and cross the causeway to Holy Island.

Step through the front door of this tastefully refurbished cottage for a warm and welcoming start to your holiday. The property was once home to the local village ‘bobby’ and has been lovingly refurbished and presented with fun nods to the past and a lovely French style. From the hallway, head into the snug with two comfortable sofas to relax on, a Smart TV, and a range of books, toys and games for entertainment. The open-plan kitchen/diner has dual-aspect windows, a large dining table, and a cosy wood burner. This is a lovely social space to sit together after a day out exploring the area. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare a range of meals with a well-ventilated larder cupboard for extra storage and a utility area. The boot room is off the utility area and provides secure additional storage space for equipment and bikes. There are baskets of toys for the garden, plenty of coat hooks and boot racks for your walking gear, and a useful ceiling clothes airer. There is also a ground-floor shower room. At bedtime, head upstairs to find three beautifully presented bedrooms, each with plenty of stylish storage space and built-in wardrobes. There are two bedrooms with a double bed and a third with a king-size zip-and-link bed which can be made up as twin beds on request. The family bathroom completes the accommodation.

A door from the boot room leads out to the side of the house and access to the rear garden with a tall gate that opens to the front. To the rear, there is a small, suntrap patio area with a bistro table and chairs where you can enjoy a quiet morning coffee with a good book. There is a hot and cold outside tap which is useful for cleaning walking boots and dogs’ paws, and you have access to the shed. Stone steps lead up to the generous, enclosed lawned garden with a picnic-style table (picnicware provided), a range of seating for al fresco dining and blankets for dark skies stargazing, and there is a full-size French boules/petanque pitch, perfect for a fun, family tournament.

  • 3 bedrooms - 2 doubles and 1 king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as twins on request)
