Renovated in 2023, this beautiful detached farmhouse situated on the outskirts of Caldwell and surrounded by open countryside is a calming spot to hide away or explore by walking, cycling or driving. It has a great location set at the northern tip of the Yorkshire Dales, between the historic market towns of Barnard Castle (8.5 miles) and Richmond (10 miles). Barnard Castle is a historic market town that hosts a weekly Wednesday market and takes its name from the castle around which it grew. This town hosts the Bowes Museum, nearby Eggleston Gardens and a many shops selling antiques, designer clothes, jewellery, accessories, vintage and retro items and local crafts. Richmond sits on the River Swale with impressive waterfalls just a few hundred metres from the cobbled town square. It is home to the famous Station (food, film and art under one roof), the Georgian Theatre as well as Richmond Castle. Take the long track up to the cottage and take in your private rural surroundings.
Enter the cottage into a very welcoming entrance hall, where you can exchange your shoes with your slippers and make yourself at home. The cottage is traditional in style and retains exposed beams, and large inglenook fireplaces yet is spacious and stylish with plenty of rooms for family members to retreat to. Head through the dining room to discover a light and spacious lounge, flooded with natural light and gorgeous views over the garden and beyond. Relax in your chosen armchair or sofa set around an impressive fireplace with a wood burner. The kitchen comes well-equipped, and you'll find everything you'll need to rustle up dinner. Enjoy mealtimes at the large dining table in the dining room either planning your day at breakfast or reminiscing about that day's adventures. If you fancy watching a movie on the Smart TV, venture into the cosy snug, and get snuggled up on the corner sofa while the warmth of the wood burner keeps you toastie. When sleep calls, head up the stairs to discover three bedrooms; a king-size room with an en-suite shower room behind a sliding set of doors, a double, and a twin room (can be made into a super-king on request) with an en-suite shower room and WC. Start your day with a refreshing shower in the main bathroom or relax in a nice hot bubble bath at the end of the day.
Step outside to the garden and courtyard which is a great feature of this farmhouse, and enjoy your morning coffee in the courtyard watching the sun come up – if the weather is a bit wet you can take shelter in the garden room and admire the pretty, well-kept flower beds. In the afternoon, bring your BBQ food through to the large garden with your favourite tipple whilst admiring the views and the peace and quiet. There is a large enclosed pond, well-stocked borders and a handy boot room where you will find a washing machine.
