Explore villages, historic sites and the natural beauty of England’s first National Park. Nearby are The Roaches (6.5 miles) for climbing and walking, and Rudyard Lake (11.5 miles) for boat trips, miniature steam railway rides and refreshments at the waterside cafe. Just 4 miles away is the lively town of Leek, known for its arts and crafts heritage, antiques shops and weekly and monthly markets. There are plenty of pubs, cafes, and restaurants to discover. The attractive spa town of Buxton (14.5 miles), elegant Ashbourne (12.5 miles) and the popular Alton Towers Theme Park (8.5 miles) are all easy to reach by car.
On entering the cottage, you are greeted by a well-planned kitchen/diner that's brilliantly equipped. Across the landing is the spacious bathroom. Outside is a lovely stone-paved south-facing garden, a real sun trap which looks out over the fields and up the valley. Enjoy balmy summer days and evenings al fresco at the wooden table and chairs or bask on teak ‘steamer’ sun loungers. There’s a charcoal BBQ in the small shed which also stores the chairs and cushions. The outhouse under the stone steps houses the washer/dryer and all the other laundry essentials along with a small freezer so there’s always plenty of ice for long cooling drinks.
