Nestled in the heart of the picturesque Dorset countryside, this idyllic destination offers a perfect retreat for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty, whilst being within easy reach of good road links and amenities. Surrounded by rolling chalk hills, lush green meadows, and meandering streams, Higher Wraxall is a haven for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. The cottage is set beside a small country lane, which forms part of the national cycle route 26 and an abundance of footpaths are moments away. The hamlet itself exudes a timeless charm, with its quaint thatched cottages and ancient stone walls, or head to the nearby villages of Evershot, Cattistock and Maiden Newton (2 miles), where you can find your essential supplies. Within 17 miles are a whole host of popular attractions to choose from, including the county town of Dorchester, Abbotsbury, West Bay, Weymouth, Portland, Lyme Regis and Cerne Abbas.
Take the side entrance into this 16th Century thatched detached cottage, which leads into a welcoming dining room with plenty of room for leisurely meals together. From here step up into the fully equipped country-style kitchen or walk further into the property, where you'll pass a utility area and compact shower room. At the rear of the cottage is a beautiful and inviting lounge with a commanding view across the mature garden, an open fire for those cosy evenings in, and a Smart TV. Double doors open onto steps that will take you down onto the undulating lawn. Heading back to the dining room you'll find a winding staircase that rises to the first floor. A generous landing provides the perfect spot for work or study and you can find the three bedrooms, two doubles, and a single with an additional pull-out full-sized guest bed if required, and completing the first floor is the bathroom. Double doors lead from both the inner hallway and the lounge.
Head outside onto the enclosed patio which has a table and chairs and fire up the electric BBQ for a lovely al fresco meal. An undulating and sloping lawn leads down through established borders to a small brook at the bottom. An arch in the hedge leads to a tranquil area of lawn that has been levelled and is the perfect spot to enjoy a picnic or ball game. Due to the natural surroundings it is not possible to enclose the lawn areas, therefore care should be taken with small children and dogs.
