At almost 1,000 feet above sea level, the market town of Alston is the highest in England. The South Tynedale Railway begins at this station, which houses England's highest narrow-gauge railway. Those with a sense of adventure can embark on a long, steep climb up Hartside Fell, which forms part of the Coast-to-Coast Cycle Route. Visit Ashgill Force, a 5-mile-long waterfall with spectacular cascading falls. The bustling town of Penrith is only 20 miles away and boasts an abundance of history as well as independent shops, bars and restaurants. Pooley Bridge (24 miles) is located on the banks of Ullswater, England’s second largest lake; enjoy a scenic cruise around the lake, hire your own boat or go kayaking or paddle boarding before tucking into some delicious food in one of the local eateries.

This newly renovated townhouse offers a central town location as well as stylish and modern living spaces across three floors. As you enter, you'll be greeted by a contemporary open-plan lounge and dining area. Sink into the comfortable sofas as you watch the Smart TV in front of the cosy electric wood burner effect fire after a busy day exploring. You'll find a spacious dining area where you can enjoy meals and spend quality time with your family or friends. The ground floor also boasts a well-equipped kitchen, whether you're a budding chef or simply enjoy preparing meals, you'll find everything you need in this modern kitchen. The first floor has a king size bedroom and a further double room, offering a cosy and inviting space for relaxation. The family bathroom is on this floor which features a separate shower and bath, perfect for soothing aching muscles and unwinding after a long day exploring. Another set of stairs lead to the second floor where you'll find a further double room with an ottoman bed for extra storage and a twin room, both with high ceilings, creating a sense of openness and tranquillity. Both rooms are served by the shower room and have been thoughtfully designed and offer the perfect place to recharge.

We loved Tindal House, it was cosy and we felt at home. The hampers for us and our dog were much appreciated too. The house is well equipped and exceeded expectations. We visited Ashgill Force and Talkin Tarn as well as enjoying a visit to the shops in Alston, the staff were friendly and helpful. We would recommend this property without hesitation.Read more Thanks. We stayed over at this lovely cottage during a rainy weekend in May and although outside was gloomy, we had a wonderful time. This beautiful 4-bedroom cottage is tucked away in the charming town of Alston. Overall, the place was emasculate, well-decorated, and equipped with everything you needed during your stay. They had lots of toys and games to Read morechoose from for the little ones and we were even welcomed by a lovely hamper. It is in a great location with many shops and cafe just across the road. We loved our Christmas stay at Tindal House! It was decorated for us on arrival, with some lovely welcome hampers on the table. Overall the place was very spacious for the family, clean, comfortable, and cosy! The area also had everything you need - pubs, cafes, and shops all within 5 mins walking distance. This is a lovely well equipped cottage that has been very tastefully furnished. We would have no hesitation in recommending it to family and friends. We hope to return in the future as its very well situated to go exploring other areas.

Tindal House has everything you need to enjoy a wonderful stay in the very pretty town of Alston. The accomodation was very clean and tidy, with all that you would need to enjoy a comfortable, relaxing, holiday. The attention to detail was very evident as Rachel had provided all the little extra things that made our stay perfect. Tindal House is a Read moregem, tucked away in Kates Lane, we all had a great time, including our two dogs Ollie and Rupert. Hide
