Monkton Wyld is a rural hamlet that offers some of the very best countryside that Dorset has to offer, yet within easy reach of Lyme Regis and Charmouth. Both are under 3 miles and home to a wide range of amenities. Close to the border with Devon, this is an ideal base for couples wishing to tour, or simply to sit back and enjoy this idyllic setting. The private woodland surrounds are home to abundant wildflowers, as well as deer and birds of prey, to name but a few. You’ll find a choice of paths and tracks from the doorstep, as well as a stream meandering through the land, perfect for picnics or set off in the car and enjoy lunch in one of the many eateries along the Jurassic Coast.

One of only two properties accessed via a long, unmade drive, you'll find your hut tucked within the trees in a private and secluded spot. Climb the wooden steps up into your very own retreat. Inside there is a charming open-plan living space, with an inviting double bed set to the left, space for romantic meals just opposite and a wood burner to snuggle up beside. The kitchen area is tucked into one corner and you can make a cup of tea whilst taking in the beautiful views. A door at one end leads to the compact shower room.

Head outside onto the private gravel terrace. Take a seat at the picnic bench, recline in the deckchairs with a good book or light the fire pit and toast marshmallows.

  • Studio style space with 1 double bed
  • 1 shower room - shower and WC
  • Combination microwave hob/oven and mini fridge
  • Wood burner (logs included)
  • Due to the rural location of the property Wi-Fi signal is available through a dongle which is provided (guests are welcome to stream TV through their own devices)
  • Gravel terrace with furniture, firepit and charcoal BBQ
  • 1 off road parking space available
  • 1 dog welcome - dogs must be kept on leads and under strict control when outside due to neighbouring livestock
  • Babes in arms welcome
  • Pub 3 miles, shop 5 miles, beach 3 miles
  • Please note access is via a long, shared drive (occasionally shared with the owners’ other shepherds hut), which is unmade and bumpy in places (may not be suitable for low riding sports cars)
  • Arrival: 15:30 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 1 dog allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £150 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £20. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Far From the Madding Crowd...We spent ten lazy days at Hazel, so quiet and relaxing with laid out walks through the woods and plenty to do locally. The hut is comfortable, warm and welcoming. The bed is super comfy with quality bedding, lovely to sit in and watch the trees and changing sky through the window. This was the most idyllic location I have come across in a while. The hut was perfect, from how it looked on the outside, to the attention to detail inside. Its remote, and isolated and perfect for getting away from the madness of life. We had the best weekend there and would highly recommend.
