This lovely property is situated in the peaceful village of Torpenhow ('Tre-penna'), a traditional Cumbrian village with a community hall that hosts ale evenings, ceilidhs and music nights, along with a fabulous organic farm selling cheeses, ice cream and other produce. The quieter Northern Fells, including the mighty Skiddaw, are on your doorstep and when you’re in the heart of the Lake District, there is always fantastic scenery within striking distance. The Lakeland Distillery is 6 miles away, with a fabulous restaurant; this attraction offers a great day out with some beautiful scenery en route. The popular tourist town of Keswick is within 12 miles, and William Wordsworth’s birthplace, Cockermouth (8 miles) is a pretty little town with a great selection of independent shops, restaurants and supermarkets. Beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake (6 miles) has a shore path that runs the length of the west shore and there’s an open-air theatre at Mirehouse which is worth a visit.

The property is a lovely mid-terrace barn conversion offering a warm welcome with ample private parking immediately outside the property. Walk into the airy and spacious hallway which has a large lounge to the right with comfortable seating and a wood burner to curl up in front of after a busy day exploring. Across the hallway is the kitchen/diner which is well equipped with everything you need to prepare a hearty breakfast or an evening meal. The round dining table, which extends to seat six guests, can be found at one end of the kitchen. There is also access to the enclosed garden from the hallway. Head up the stairs off the hallway and on the first floor, you will find three bedrooms: a lovely double bedroom that has an en-suite shower room, a cosy single bedroom and a bright and spacious king-size bedroom that has a zip and link bed that can be made up as twin beds on request. All the bedrooms have skylights and two have rustic exposed beams. There is also a family bathroom along the landing.

There is a pretty enclosed garden with a patio, seating and a lawn which is a great place to enjoy a morning coffee, an evening meal alfresco or a good book.

We stayed at the cottage for one week. Instructions for finding the cottage and the welcome file were much appreciated. Easy access and parking. We all enjoyed the space and facilities the cottage offered. Excellent kitchen equipment, we found everything we needed. This cottage is beautifully finished, and very well equipped. The living room is super cosy for those wetter days. Easy parking and access. Short drive to a lovely pub/restaurant. Would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic cottage! We had a lovely week long stay as a family of four. Cottage was so well equipped. Very quiet location but still close by for local attractions. We visited the Lake district wildlife park (twice), Mire house and gardens, Silloth and other places nearby. We could not ask for better weather. We are already planning our next visit.

Cottage was lovely, peaceful, fully equipped everything you could need for a week's stay. The 2nd bedroom wasn't made into a twin as requested (and as was offered in the property details) and when someone was sent via property agent to do so she could only find 1 single duvet. Had to use the double duvet for one of the twin beds. This needs to be aRead moreddressed for anyone requiring as a twin in the future. We had a lovely stay at this home! Really quite location with a local farm shop round the corner. Great place to stay in the Lake District with many places 30 minutes to an hour away. The home had everything we needed, was really homely and clean. Will definitely stay here again.

This is a beautiful cottage and very roomy. It is well-situated for exploring the North-Western lakes and fells, with maps and guide books in the cottage. The village is quiet, with gentle walks across the fields, but within easy reach of Cockermouth and Keswick. I had a very enjoyable week and will be back.

Lovely cottage with very well equipped kitchen even scales should you wish to bake! Closest pub is a mile away and no local shop so be aware but not too far to Wigton which has both a Co-op and Lidl.

Fantastic cottage for a family of three for a week of exploring the Lake District, lovely and quiet at night and good connections. The inside of the house is fantastically furnished and clean. The blackout blinds in the master bedroom meant our two year old slept fantastically! Beautifully finished, very comfortable cottage in a pretty and quiet location so if it's peace and quiet you want then this is ideal but also within a short drive to shops and local fells and lakes for hiking or less strenuous walks. Every amenity/utensil was provided and thought of, there was everything we needed provided.
