This delightful Devon retreat is situated in the family seaside resort of Dawlish with a sandy beach and all amenities within easy reach, making this the perfect getaway. Dawlish is home to the famous black swans and has a riverside walk and a selection of shops and cafes. 3 miles away is Dawlish Warren with a sandy beach, built on a spit of sand with the Exe estuary on one side and the sea on the other. It has all the attractions of a traditional holiday but in an outstanding natural environment. Keen walkers will enjoy the Exe Estuary Trail (leading to Exmouth via Cockwood with its harbourside pubs), Powderham Castle (6.5 miles), the bustling city of Exeter (15 miles) and the quaint old port of Topsham (13.5 miles). Regular trains also follow this route, said to be one of the most beautiful rail journeys, and for boat lovers, there is a ferry from nearby Starcross (5 miles) to Exmouth.

On entering the property from the front door, you find yourself in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with a feature fireplace, comfortable sofas, a Smart TV, and a dining table with benches. The contemporary kitchen area is well equipped with everything you need to cater for your stay. Just beyond is a spacious tiled shower room with an inner hall, with room for your four-legged friends to relax. A door leads from this inner hall to the rear garden. Heading up the cottage-style staircase to the first floor, you will find both bedrooms: a king-size master bedroom and a second bedroom with a zip-and-link 2’6” twin room (which can be made into a king-size on request at the time of booking).

Heading outside, you have a spacious rear terraced garden which can be enjoyed over four levels with gravel and lawn areas, garden furniture and BBQ. From the top level you can enjoy views across the rooftops.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 king-size and 1 twin zip-and-link (can be made into a king-size on request)

We had a lovely week with our 2 dogs. Comfortable beds, good shower, everything we needed in the kitchen, reliable Wi-Fi, easy to control heating and a safe garden space for the dogs. We enjoyed the coastal walks from the cottage along to Dawlish Warren and further on for a lovely lunch at The Anchor in Cockwood. Also in the other direction to The Read moreSmugglers Inn for a Sunday roast. Everywhere was very dog friendly. Hide

Had a lovely week in Pippin cottage, unknown to us when we booked it was Dawlish Carnival week, we particularly enjoyed watching the Pram Race go past the front door! We also had our dog with us and were surprised how dog friendly everywhere is. Hide

Clean and comfortable but a little over priced for what it is in my opinion.

This was a tastefully decorated, comfortable and cosy cottage. We had everything we needed. From a practical point of you, the cottage was warm and we had plenty of hot water. The location was perfect for walking into Dawlish and along the amazing coastline. We were 4 adults (our two teenage children) and a dog.

Excellent location just far enough out of the town centre to be quiet, yet only 10 minute walk into the town centre. Very comfortable and well maintained. We would highly recommend the cottage to anyone wanting a great holiday.

Pippin Cottage was absolutely fantastic. Fresh flowers and fresh milk in the fridge were an added bonus. Beds so comfortable with white fresh cotton duvet covers and pillow cases. Thick fluffy towels and flannels provided. All in all superb.
