This attractive cottage has been stylishly furnished and is nestled in an idyllic setting surrounded by the rolling Devon countryside, providing a perfect escape to the countryside. Located in the pretty village of Ashwater, with its local inn and village shop, there are some enjoyable walks right on your doorstep through Cookworthy Forest and Abbeyford Woods. The popular coastal resort of Bude is only 12 miles away and offers a great family day out with plenty of shops, cafes and not forgetting its wide sandy beach, coastal walks and sea pool. There is plenty that Devon and Cornwall has to offer with its expansive sandy beaches, hidden coves and picturesque fishing villages. Other attractions and places of interest include Dartmoor National Park (20 miles), Launceston Steam Railway (10 miles) and numerous National Trust places all within 20 miles, including Lanhydrock, Lydford Gorge, and Boscastle. For the more adventurous, try the activity centre at Roadford Lake (4 miles), where you can try your hand at canoeing, abseiling, paddle boarding or just enjoy a leisurely stroll around the lake.

This cottage offers comfortable reverse-style living for four guests and, although next to the owners’ own thatched home, the position allows for maximum privacy. Heading in across the decked patio and through the front door, you’ll enter an airy open-plan lounge. Here you’ll find a superb kitchen area with granite worktops and a built-in larder offering a large amount of storage, integrated fridge/freezer, dishwasher and wine fridge with Velux windows and a Juliette balcony. Rugs on wooden floors, high ceilings and the elegant three-sphere light fitting make this a memorable and comfortable place to cook, eat and relax. The dining area has plenty of space for everyone to eat together and the lounge area has two comfy sofas, a CD player, a radio and a TV. A useful WC with space to store boots and shoes is also on this level. Heading down the stairs to the ground floor you will find a utility area with slate flooring and a washing machine. The sleeping accommodation can be found on this floor and consists of one super-king-size four-poster bed, TV and plenty of storage space. The second room is a twin zip-and-link bed (which can be made into a king if requested at time of booking). The pretty shower room with its marble-style tiled shower and underfloor heating provides that touch of luxury.

Stepping outside, the enclosed decked patio makes an ideal place for your four-legged friends. There is also a grassed area for dogs to stretch their paws that’s not enclosed.

Stayed at the cottage for a week with wife and 2 teenage daughters and our dog. Lovely cottage, nicely furnished with everything we needed. Really comfortable beds. Also there is a paddock very close to the cottage where your dog can run around in off lead, which is owned by the owners of the cottage, which was great and we made good use of it.
