This beautiful thatched cottage dating back to 1600 is set in the heart of rural North Devon. The cottage sits off the main Roborough village road and nestles at the end of a small sloping driveway. Stylish and comfortable, the cottage offers a gentle, relaxed pace of life, yet still within easy reach of North Devon’s beautiful beaches. The welcoming thatched village pub is less than 200 metres away and serves food and traditional ales. The welcoming market town of Great Torrington is just 7 miles away, and 6 miles away is RHS Rosemoor, featuring aromatic, colourful gardens and woodland walks. For a day out at the seaside, Westward Ho! is just 13 miles away, with its long sandy beach, surfboard hire, plus traditional seaside shops and eateries. The beautiful beaches at Saunton and Woolacombe are both within 25 miles, and the traditional Devon villages of Instow and Appledore are within 15 miles.
Entering the cottage through the front door, you find yourself in the cosy, spacious lounge/diner with feature fireplace, Smart TV and comfortable sofas which beckon you to relax. A dining table and chairs allows everyone to eat together, making mealtimes a breeze. Walking on through to the galley-style kitchen, fully fitted and equipped with everything you need, a door leads to a separate WC and a utility cupboard houses the washing machine and microwave. Another door leads out from the kitchen area to the rear garden, from where you can start to appreciate the beautiful views over the fields toward Dartmoor. Back to the inner hallway, and a study room allows for remote workers to catch up with e-mails, and also has a daybed and desk. Heading up the steep cottage-style stairs, you will find the sleeping accommodation and bathroom. A landing area with statement chair makes for the perfect reading spot. The first bedroom offers a king-size bed with exposed beams and fabulous country views, whilst the second bedroom offers a zip-and-link king-size bed (which can be made into twin beds on request). The bathroom completes the accommodation and has a roll-top bath for decadent, bubbly soaks – a great place to relax after a day’s exploring.
The large lawn, with garden furniture and loungers, is an ideal spot for an al fresco meal or morning coffee whilst enjoying the stunning views. A summer house also allows you to enjoy the views in the cooler months. At the front of the property is a separate barn which has been cleverly converted to provide your own private sauna with changing area.
