Lakeland Farmhouse - incredible secluded location

This charming Lakeland farmhouse in the idyllic Lowther Valley is perfect for anyone searching for peace and quiet or outdoor exploration. You’ll be on the beautiful and rugged Bampton Common, surrounded by stunning Pennine and Lakeland fell views. Explore Bampton Common from the doorstep and look out for the wild ponies who regularly pass by. Loadpot Hill and Askham Fell offer superb hiking for those wishing to venture further afield on foot. There are many wonderful places to visit nearby, including Haweswater Reservoir (an RSPB nature reserve) and Lowther Castle with its café and outdoor adventure park. If you love water sports and wild swimming, visit Ullswater, and for a little culture, head to Larch Cottage Nurseries – an Italian-inspired oasis! The charming villages of Askham (4 miles) and Bampton are 2 miles away with pubs and village stores.

The property was renovated in 2023 to a very high finish. The ground floor boasts a stylish contemporary kitchen with a dining area which opens into the lounge, the perfect place to enjoy cosy evenings in front of the fire or alfresco drinks while taking in the incredible views and peaceful surroundings. The lounge also has a games area with football table and board games. There is a handy utility room and WC on the ground floor as well. Head up the lovely oak stairs from the lounge area and you will find three comfortable bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room. There is also a second king-size room and a cosy single. There is a family bathroom along the landing completing the property. The property has underfloor heating and charming features throughout, plus wonderful fell and countryside views from most rooms.

There is a courtyard area in front of the property with seating and views across the open countryside and fells. The area is a haven for wildlife and birds as well as the local farm animals which roam close by. On a nice evening, enjoy the dark skies and on a nice morning, it is the perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee or dine alfresco.

Beautiful location once you find it. One gets used to the rough approach road but not great for low vehicles - negotiate potholes SLOWLY. Inside was spacious, spotless, all mod cons - fantastic. Cows and sheep rub up against back door. Cattle daunting when welcoming you en masse, seemingly ready to charge - but hold your nerve, keep calm & they wilRead morel be harmless. Close enough drive to usual Lake District sights - but Ullswater obviously the highlight. Stock up in Penrith before you arrive. Hide

We had an amazing stay here - the cottage is very remote accessed via a farm track (which needs to be driven with care) It is very peaceful and there is direct access on to the fells. We had an amazing stay at this cottage, it suited myself and partner very well, location is very remote and the peace and quiet very welcomed, the views are amazing and walking opportunities are plenty. If you enjoy peace and quiet, walking with all required mod cons then this is the place for you

A beautiful cottage in a rural setting.
