An authentic Welsh getaway in the idyllic Denbighshire countryside, this traditional cottage, finished with artistic flare, is the ideal rural retreat for families or groups of friends with the dogs in tow. Perched on the edge of the Clwydian Range AONB, between the historic market towns of Denbigh (4.5 miles) and Ruthin (8 miles), both of which offer shops and eateries, there is an abundance of local amenities nearby. A haven for walkers, bikers and lovers of the outdoors, Gors Maen Llwyd Nature Reserve is under 4 miles away. Llyn Brenig (3.5 miles) and Llyn Alwen (6.5 miles) are two nearby reservoirs that offer opportunities for water spots, fishing, walking and cycling. The Clocaenog Forest (2.5 miles) covers an area of 15,000 acres and is home to one of the last remaining populations of Red Squirrels in Wales. And if you fancy a memorable adventure in the great outdoors, Snowdonia National Park is only 15 miles away.
Inside this stunning cottage, you are immediately welcomed by a large, tiled porch with ample space to kick off your muddy boots and dry the dog from the basket of towels provided, before retreating to the stylish and cosy living spaces. To your left, you’ll find a sizeable dining room complete with an oak table and settle bench, handcrafted by the local carpenter, along with two statements armchairs, perfect for a morning coffee or a late afternoon snooze. The adjacent room is where you’ll find yourself settling down for the evening on the large inviting sofa under the traditional wooden beams. A wood burner nestled in the original inglenook fireplace warms the room and creates an ambient setting for an evening in front of the Smart TV. At the rear of the property, you’ll find another piece of craftmanship from the local carpenter; the kitchen, fully equipped with everything you’ll need to cook your favourite meals away from home. Completing the ground floor is a handy laundry room complete with WC and other amenities. Three elegantly furnished bedrooms are found upstairs, along with the contemporary family bathroom for all to stay relaxed and refreshed. The first bedroom is a cosy double bedroom looking out over the enclosed garden, the second bedroom is a spacious, super-king-size room that can be made up as a twin room on request, and has the space to accommodate two temporary pull-out single beds for children, as well as a travel cot. The final bedroom is a king-size suite complete with Smart TV and en-suite shower room.
Outside the property is where you’ll be spending much of your time if the weather behaves, and guests really are spoilt for choice here! Accessed through the kitchen door, you have a fully enclosed and dog friendly patio to enjoy, and with no light pollution in the area, the luxury woodfired hot tub invites you to relax and enjoy the starlit nights of North Wales. The charcoal BBQ and outdoor gazebo creates an all-weather seating and dining experience, with a luxury rattan sofa, table and chairs. In front of the property, guests are treated to the enclosed ‘Secret Garden’; an enchanting space to completely unwind in the beautiful countryside. From here, you can appreciate the incredible views of the Clwydian Range, whilst the resident pygmy goats and sheep frolic in front of you. As the evening starts to chill, fetch a basket of logs from the woodstore and gather around the firepit in comfortable deck chairs. Perfect for little guests or rainy days, an undercover outside games room runs adjacent to the Secret Garden. For peace of mind, there is a locked outbuilding with secure windows and CCTV, perfect for bikes, fishing equipment and paddleboards.
