Weymouth is a charming seaside town with its award-winning sandy beaches, and it creates a perfect backdrop for a delightful coastal getaway. The harbour is alive with the bustle of local shops, cafes, and restaurants, inviting visitors to explore the seaside atmosphere. Strolling along the promenade, you can feel the energy of the town and breathe in the fresh sea air. A short trip takes you to Portland (3 miles) – home to the 2012 Olympic Games, Portland offers various sites to see such as its famous lighthouse and plenty of activities for young and old. If seeking a tranquil spot for a swim, Church Ope Cove provides a serene escape where the waters are calm and inviting. Venturing a bit further, the captivating Lulworth Cove and iconic Durdle Door (15 miles) await you. A day spent here promises picturesque landscapes, and the chance to marvel at the forces of nature that shape our coastline. Situated just on the Rodwell Trail is a fully surfaced 2 mile (3.4km) linear route suitable for walkers, scooters, bicycles and mobility scooters. This route is signposted. It takes you past old station platforms and Sandsfoot Castle, with lovely views out across Portland Harbour towards Portland. It is part of National Cycle Route 26 which extends southward to the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, the country’s premier sailing venue and host venue for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic sailing events. The Trail is also great for wildlife with many birds, plants, butterflies and other insects recorded from and along the route.

As you enter through the welcoming doorway, a short ascent of five steps introduces you to the cottage ground floor, where a world of comfort and relaxation awaits. The heart of the cottage is on this level, where a light-filled and spacious open-plan lounge/diner beckons. Unwind on the comfy sofas, enjoy the ambience created by an electric fire, and watch a favourite programme on the TV. Whether it's a quiet evening or a lively dinner gathering, this is the perfect spot to plan the next day’s adventures. Adjacent to the living area, the well-equipped kitchen with its thoughtful design includes a strategically placed breakfast area, offering a delightful spot to savour your morning coffee. French doors from the breakfast area open onto the rear courtyard garden. For added convenience, a utility room is at your disposal, and leading off from here is a wet room. Venturing to the first floor, you'll discover two double bedrooms and a twin room offering space for the whole family. The twin room has 2'6" beds that can be made up as a king if required. Servicing all three bedrooms is a well-appointed family bathroom with all the amenities needed for a refreshing shower or a relaxing soak in the bath.

Outside there is a small, enclosed courtyard garden with several seating areas for enjoying morning coffee or drinks at the end of a busy day.

We loved our holiday. The cottage was very clean and cosy with pretty much everything we needed for a pleasant stay. We arrived by train and found everything within walking distance: Beach 20 minutes, Asda 3(!) minutes and open til midnight, shopping centre 15 minutes and the train station about a 25 minute walk from the cottage.
