Amesbury, known for the iconic prehistoric monument of Stonehenge (5 miles), has food shops, including a great local butcher, restaurants, and pubs. Further afield, the historic cathedral city of Salisbury, with its stunning cathedral dating back to 1220, is a great place to explore. For nature enthusiasts, a visit to the New Forest (15 miles) is a must, offering over 200 square miles of pristine natural beauty and the chance to see wild ponies roaming freely. Additionally, the Jurassic Coast (50 miles), is not to be missed. Here, you can marvel at natural wonders such as Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door and relax on miles of award-winning beaches and dig for fossils. Whether you're interested in history and nature, or simply enjoying local amenities, this cottage provides a perfect starting point for a memorable visit. Discover the charm and character of this delightful Grade II-listed cottage at the end of a no-through road. With off-road parking for two cars and an EV charging point, convenience meets charm from arrival.

Step through the gate, across the garden and into the porch, then down two steps into a large and well-equipped kitchen/breakfast room. From the kitchen, two steps up lead you into the inviting conservatory dining room, offering direct access to the garden. The living room reveals the cottage's true character, boasting original oak beams, an inglenook fireplace, and a wood burner. Relax on the comfy sofas, enjoy a night in front of the fire playing games, or catch up on your favourite shows on the Smart TV. The ground floor also features a convenient cloakroom. Upstairs, the broad landing leads to three charming bedrooms. The double bedroom showcases a very wonky original fireplace and crooked ceiling, with views of local 18th and 19th-century properties. The twin bedroom shares the same picturesque view, while the single bedroom, with its characterful sloping floor, offers views down the river Avon. Completing the first floor is a good-sized bathroom with a large shower and WC.

Outside, the secluded garden is perfect for unwinding, with a lawn and a paved area equipped with a table and chairs for outdoor dining or stargazing. A short walk along the adjacent public footpath leads to Mill Pond Garden, with exclusive riverbank access for guests only. Sophy and Ben are wonderful welcoming hosts who have created a lovely home from home to get away to. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped. A peaceful place to relax but with easy access to local amenities and towns. I would happily recommend this cottage to others.

Hay Cottage is a gorgeous, wonky, 17th-century property with all the facilities you need. It's in a beautiful location by the river with access to its own section of riverbank from which you can paddle or swim. There are so many places to visit within easy reach, such as Salisbury, Bath and several National Trust properties, and Stonehenge is just Read morea few miles down the road. The hosts are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. We had a wonderful week here and would highly recommend it. Hide
