Get away from it all in this idyllic coastal cottage in the Cumbrian village of Ravenglass. Located on the far edge of the Lake District National Park, this is the perfect base for those looking to explore the dramatic landscape where the mountains meet the sea. The cottage makes a great base for couples and small families who enjoy getting out and about in nature, with endless walking trails to explore nearby, from windswept coast paths to exhilarating routes through the mountains of the Eskdale Valley. For those looking for a real challenge, Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain, is just 12 miles away. Alternatively, for a more sedate way to view the surrounding landscape, hop aboard one of the steam trains of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. Just outside the village is Muncaster Castle (1.5 miles), known for its magnificent formal gardens, which makes a great day out for all the family.

The former fisherman’s cottage still retains much of its original charm, with beamed ceilings and deep-set windows. The decor is calm and relaxing, with tones to reflect the surrounding landscape and pretty coastal-themed artwork adorning the walls. On the ground floor, leave walking boots in the porch before heading through to the inviting lounge. Here, you’ll find plump sofas arranged around a Smart TV and a wood burner-effect gas fire for those chilly nights. A door leads through to the bright and airy kitchen/diner, where you can cook up a storm as you enjoy the sea views and share meal times together at the wooden dining table. Upstairs, discover two peaceful bedrooms; the master bedroom which takes inspiration from the surrounding coastal views, and the second bedroom which has a nod to its Lakeland heritage. The master bedroom boasts a king-size bed, deep window seat and en-suite shower room, whilst the cosy second bedroom can be either a twin or a super-king bed. A stylish family bathroom completes this delightful waterside retreat.

From the kitchen/diner, a door opens onto the decked terrace. This is a lovely spot overlooking the tidal flats and you can relax here with a morning coffee and admire the local wildlife as you plan the day’s itinerary.

This is the most beautiful and comfy place we have ever stayed. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises from the main bedroom. Great location for long walks, nice food and then a roaring fire with a glass of wine. Beautifully decorated to the landscape and high end finishes. This cottage is stunning! We cannot wait to book again!!!
