Set within 2 private acres of ground with countryside views, this superb cottage retains original charm with inglenook fireplaces, exposed beams, woodburner, enclosed garden with a shop 2.3 miles and pub within 1 mile.

Conveniently located on the A3124, you will be close to the village of Beaford some 0.8 miles away with its arts centre and 5 miles from the Cavalier Town of Torrington, making it a convenient place to holiday, being close to a huge range of amenities such as RHS Rosemoor Gardens and Torrington 1646. Watch glass being blown at Dartington Crystal before enjoying a traditional Devon cream tea in the adjoining restaurant. Other interesting places to visit include Clovelly, a cliff-side fishing village with steep cobbled streets leading down to the harbour. The market town of Bideford with its weekly pannier market, Burton Art Gallery, Victoria Park and historic quayside are worth a look. For those who enjoy walking or cycling the Tarka Trail (a former railway line which runs from Braunton - Meeth) is nearby and offers a safe and level walkway for children and adults alike, with a few welcome watering holes along the way. You will be situated within easy driving distance to both Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks.

On entering the cottage, you will discover it retains many of its original features including exposed beams, wooden flooring and low/narrow doorways. The Lounge has a feature inglenook fireplace, Smart TV , DVD, ipod dock and lovely views over the patio and garden. Smaller cosy lounge with woodburner, Smart TV, DVD and hi-fi, excellent for quiet time or a separate area for children. Leading then to the Dining room which perfect for special occasions, with inglenook fireplace, woodburner, table football table and hi-fi. The family sized kitchen is also on the ground floor with a range of fitted units, dishwasher, dual fuel cooker, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge/freezer, microwave, TV and many useful extras. Along with a handy Utility room ideal for storage of shoes and coats or fishing rods, surfboards and bicycles. And 2 separate and convenient WCs are also located on the ground floor.

The accommodation also offers split levels with four bedrooms all on the first floor which is perfect for two families holidaying together. These bedrooms can be accessed via 2 separate staircases. The first stairway takes you up to 1 twin and 1 master double with exposed beams, TV, DVD, washbasin and vanity unit along with a separate bathroom with shower over bath and WC and a separate shower room. The second staircase leads to 2 spacious bedrooms, one which can be configured either as a Super King double or as a twin and the second a twin as well as another family bathroom. There is an interconnecting passage between the 2 middle bedrooms which can be open or closed depending on your party make up.

Heading outside you can find a 2 acre, fully fenced and enclosed rear garden and patio area with BBQ and garden furniture perfect for alfresco dining.

There is also ample off road parking at the front of the cottages.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We enjoyed a week at Lantern Cross, there were 8 of us in the party and the cottage was plenty big enough for us all. We loved the 2 staircases and the connecting corridor upstairs, its perfect for 2 families holidaying together, we still had our own private space and family bathroom. The cottage was so well equipped with all the cooking utensils aRead morend pans you would need to cook a family meal for 8 people. Amazing location and huge cottage / so much space, enough for the whole family to enjoy. Garden is huge, dogs loved running around in it, and lovely to stroll in the morning and take in the view. Fires lit, telly on, wine in hand - magical! What a wonderful place to spend Christmas - already talking of returning!

We were a family of 5 adults and 2 children and a dog, lantern cross was perfect for us. We had loads of space, toilets and the fabulous 2 acre garden. I would highly recommend the cottage. Lantern Cross is a well equipped cottage with plenty of room with a large garden that is ideal for children. It has a large well appointed kitchen and dining room. The bedrooms are very comfortable. I would recommend this cottage.

lovely property and grounds, friendly and helpful owner/caretaker. country lane driving needed but loved being in the countryside away from everything. peaceful and kids could play as loud as they wanted. ample room in house clean and tidy, home from home. would recommend and the garden was fab even my spaniel had enough room to run and sniff out bRead moreirds.
