Ideal for active families needing outdoor space to play, countryside to roam and nearby attractions to visit, this light-filled cottage caters ably to groups with room for everyone to spread out. You’ll be close to local amenities with a shop and pub within 200 metres, but as the area is filled with wonderful opportunities for outings it’s well worth venturing further afield. Take a day out to Hawkshead (11 miles) where you can cycle through the woodland of Grizedale Forest and go fishing at the trout farm. Drive 7 miles to Coniston Water, where you can board a steam yacht gondola or hire a boat, stopping at the town’s museum on the way back. Explore the independent shops of Grasmere (4 miles), Windermere (9 miles) and Bowness (10 miles). Riding and pony trekking centres can be found within 13 miles, along with an 18-hole golf course.
Entering through the porch (great for removing muddy walking boots after an invigorating hike), the ground floor features an expansive multi-aspect lounge/dining room/kitchen area. Here you can relax on the comfortable seating with a Blu-ray movie, cook in the charming kitchen whilst another member of your party is perched on a bar stool opposite or share meals together at the dining table – this can be opened out to accommodate up to 14 guests. The ground floor also has a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer, and a separate shower room too. On the first floor are four bedrooms: a king room with an en-suite shower room, a second king enjoying garden views, one twin room (with beds 10cm longer than standard) and finally, a lovely bunk bedroom. There’s a charming family bathroom on this level too.
The garden, accessed via a patio door in the dining area, extends to the rear and side. Enclosed with hedges and fencing, it has shrubbery, trees, an area of lawn, and a patio area with furniture for sociable summer dining.
