This delightful single-storey cottage on the western shore of Grasmere Water, and just 1 mile from the shops, pubs and restaurants of Grasmere village, makes for a perfect base for a fun and active family break. Spot deer and red squirrels in nearby Deerbolts Wood, head to the village of Rydal (4 miles) and walk out to the astonishing Rydal Cave, or simply take a picnic down to the water’s edge and relax. A little further afield, Go Ape at Grizedale Forest, 11.5 miles away, has treetop trails for all ages, while down at ground level, a sculpture trail walk through the forest with a fell pony will be a holiday memory that will be treasured forever.
Upon entering this super holiday property through restored barn doors, guests arrive in a spacious lounge/kitchen/diner with a striking vaulted and beamed ceiling. In this handsome room, there’s a lounge area with a sofa and armchairs gathered around a TV and an electric stove for cosy evenings in, a smart kitchen area with a breakfast bar and a stool, and a dining area with a dining table and chairs seating four. At either end of this room are two good-sized bedrooms – one double and one twin– and their respective en-suite bathrooms – one with a shower over the bath and the other with a walk-in shower.
Outdoors, guests are invited to make use of a paved patio area located a few moments down the driveway shared with the adjoining property. Here, picnic bench seating offers idyllic views over Grasmere Water to the woods and fells beyond. You also have shared access to the remainder of the garden.
