Sitting on the South West Coast Path between the quaint village of Clovelly and the fabulous beach at Westward Ho!, this gorgeous cottage in Bucks Mills is the ideal retreat by the sea for a romantic couple or a small group of friends. Take a stroll along the beach (0.2 miles), which is sprinkled with abandoned lime kilns and rusty winches – reminders of this area’s industrial past. There are plenty of rock pools to explore and some stunning waterfalls, as well as a fascinating rocky spit that – if you listen to local legends – was built by the devil. Head into Clovelly (5 miles) to explore its charming cobbled streets and fishermen’s cottages, or hop on a boat to take a fishing trip. Alternatively, grab your surfboard and head to the beautiful stretch of golden sand at Westward Ho! (9 miles), or make your way into the market town of Bideford (9 miles) and take a boat trip to the wild and beautiful Lundy Island where you may be lucky enough to see seals, dolphins and puffins.
Offering vistas from Baggy to Harland Point, breathtaking views are the real highlight of this charming cottage by the sea. Step inside and you’ll find a lovely light and airy space with an open-plan layout. The living area showcases an alcove window seat with amazing sea views and a warming wood burner. From the separate dining room, which also offers wonderful sea views, a few steps lead down into the kitchen (a glass partition separates the two levels) where you’ll find everything you need to let your culinary talents shine. There’s also a quaint stable door that opens onto the garden. A fairly steep staircase leads up to an attractive king-size bedroom where you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of a nearby waterfall tumbling down to the sea. A further compact double room with stunning sea views shares the family bathroom, which has a hip bath with a shower over it.
Step outside and you’ll find a gorgeous garden with a patio, picnic bench and a BBQ area. A low wall separates the front lawn from a stream, so please take care with young children.
