This delightful 18th-century fisherman’s cottage has been sensitively refurbished and still retains many of its original features; located in the town centre it’s near to everything Whitby has to offer and makes the perfect base for a wonderful holiday enjoying the local area. Head out of the cottage along the gothic streets with lots of lovely shops and eateries to the beach and harbour (0.5 miles away) to see the statue of Whitby’s most famous resident - Captain James Cook. Watch the fishing boats bring in their catches. Climb the 199 steps to the ruins of the impressive Abbey to enjoy amazing views of the town and coast and hunt for Dracula’s grave in the graveyard. Find out more about the local area and life in Whitby over the years at the museum in Pannett Park, just over 300 metres from the property. Book a romantic ride on a steam train from Whitby station, just over 150 metres away, to explore the beautiful Esk Valley and stop off at one of the stations to explore the lovely towns in the area.
A small porch leads into this delightful property, which has a very comfortable open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with original beams and a traditional range oven (not for use). There is plenty of space to relax in front of the TV on the cosy seating. A compact, colourful kitchen area sits just off the living space and features a dining table and chairs. On the first floor are two fresh and inviting bedrooms, a double and a single, both of which are decorated in soothing, neutral colours and have wardrobes. The double also has a handy sink. Bedroom number three is on the second floor, an attractive twin which uses the built-in wardrobe on the landing, and there’s a refreshing bathroom on this level too.
Being in the centre of town there’s no private garden attached to the cottage, but the beach and harbour are only 0.5 miles away and the very quiet and pretty Pannett Park, home to the museum and art gallery, is less than 300 metres away.
