This coastal lodge, all on one level, is the perfect base for a family or two couples looking to escape to the North Devon coast for a holiday full of wonder and excitement. Croyde is a fantastic destination at any time of the year; summer brings those looking for an excellent surf spot and beach fun, but equally, winter offers unmatched walks along the coastal path and through the wild countryside. Croyde Beach is just over 0.5 miles away, a dune-backed stretch of sand that’s just as good for sunbathing as it is for swimming or surfing. The National Trust’s Baggy Point (2.5 miles), a headland that separates Croyde Bay and Morte Bay, offers marvellous views of the surrounding beaches of Putsborough (2 miles) and Woolacombe (5 miles), as well as the opportunity to spot seals, Hebridean sheep and all manner of sea birds. On rainy days, the surf is still there but if you prefer to stay dry, try out Croyde’s Deckchair Cinema, or head to Braunton (4.5 miles) for the Museum of British Surfing or to Ilfracombe (10 miles) for the aquarium.
Step inside this lodge and you’ll notice that the open-plan living area is stylishly presented and has wooden flooring throughout. Settle down on either of the comfortable sofas and admire the countryside views from the dual-aspect windows. After this, switch on the Smart TV in the corner and catch up on your favourite shows. There is also a French door here which leads to the outdoor space. Move through to the kitchen/diner which flows effortlessly from the lounge, and you’ll find a smart wooden table and chairs in a kitchen that continues the wooden theme. Just off the living room is the first of the two bedrooms: a beautiful king-size with dual-aspect windows offerings sea views. A small hallway leads to the attractive and spacious twin room which has plenty of room for all your belongings. A light family bathroom finishes the interior of this charming property.
Head outside through the French door onto the raised decking and marvel at the incredible views of the coast and country. This area wraps around the lodge and offers you a choice of seating, whether you want to soak up the sun on the lounger or share breakfast at the table and chairs. There’s a BBQ here for guests to use too, so stoke the flames as you cook dinner and watch the sunset simultaneously. Stay out late and finish the evening off with a nightcap under the stars. Bliss.
