Property code: OC-CHO

Right in the centre of this wonderfully quirky seaside resort is this impressive property within the courthouse of Ogilvie Hall. Friends and families will love its location close to an excellent pub with a garden opposite, a perfect spot for an evening meal en route home after a day at the beach as the sun begins to sink. The Meare, the Watertower and the windmill are all iconic attractions in Thorpeness and are just a short stroll away, within a few hundred metres. If you haven't had your fill of photo ops at these attractions in the village, there are lovely brightly coloured buildings lining the shoreline of the long shingle beach. There is a well-known golf course less than half a mile away with beautiful views out over the water from the greens and fairways. A little further afield, 2 miles away, is the lovely resort of Aldeburgh packed with galleries, boutiques and restaurants. Browse the galleries for artwork of the local scenery to take home as a memento, or enjoy the thriving arts scene with Snape Maltings a couple of miles from Aldeburgh’s centre, offering performances and gigs as well as beautiful boutiques.

Step inside this pristine home from its grand, mock-Tudor exterior, and you will be astonished at the amount of space and light this property offers. The home has a reverse layout with four spacious bedrooms on the ground floor, and the living space upstairs. There are three king-size bedrooms, one with an en-suite, and all rooms have super-stylish contemporary furniture with high-end finishes. A second bathroom is very spacious with a wet room-style, walk-in shower as well as a lovely bath – perfect for a relaxing soak after a busy day on the beach. The vast, open-plan living area upstairs is beautifully styled with contemporary furniture complementing the white walls, and has a three-storey vaulted ceiling with exposed beams. A cool and contemporary breakfast bar by the well-equipped kitchen is a great place to hang out and chat while the designated chef gets busy in the kitchen. A large dining table by pretty, leaded windows is the perfect space for hosting an extra-special meal, and there’s lots of space on the long corner sofa for relaxing after a day of exploring. The real highlight of the property is accessed via the spiral staircase which winds up into a brilliant mezzanine space above the lounge. Up here, there are lots of floor cushions making this space great for little or big kids to hide away and have fun, or spy on the action going on below.

Outside, the shared, well-kept garden area wraps around the property and offers a small patio area as well as some pleasant green views.

We enjoyed our stay at The Courthouse. The first floor open living area is a great comfortable space for a large group. The property is ideally situated and a short walk to the pub, beach and Meare.

The location is super. Walking to beach and mere. We were 6 adults, one ten year old and one 12 week old baby and the space meant room for everyone And it looks lovely

Location is ideal. The proximity to beach, pub, cafe, mere and all the facilities is faultless. Just a short journey to the excellent Co-op in Leiston makes up for the lack of a grocery shop. Aldeborough has a wonderful high street with restaurants and other high class outlets. The area has many attractions which are not commercialised and the scRead moreenery is stunning. The house is spacious and comfortable and the upside down layout really works for a large family gathering. Hide

We had a brilliant stay at the courthouse, the house is beautiful and has everything and more that you would need for a stay there. Lovely location, right by a pub which we had a meal and was really good, also brilliantly located for the lake which we hired boats. Also had a horse and carriage ride from outside into Aldeburgh which was fab. WouRead moreld highly recommend this house if you are looking for a quiet stay somewhere. Hide

The Courthouse is perfect for large parties, perfect location for nipping in The Dolphin for something to eat. The layout (upside-down) is quirky and adds that fun feel to it. Well equipped and certainly large enough for more than one family to holiday together. Would definitely return.

The Courthouse has a lovely, spacious living / dining area which is perfect for an extended family gathering following a day on the beach or out walking, with a large dining table, separate breakfast bar, not to mention a hideaway mezzanine level perfect for children. As well as this, the house is perfectly positioned in Thorpeness, over the roRead moread from the lovely Dolphin pub and only a quick stroll from the golf club. Would definitely recommend this for larger groups, but also, as it has been for us, an opportunity for a small party to enjoy a lot of space, I'd challenge anyone to find a property with more available in Aldeburgh or Thorpeness!
