Property code: OC-TSUMME

This gorgeous 1939 house is an excellent option for a large group – for example, two or three families holidaying together. It’s located in Abersoch, a popular seaside resort with a pretty harbour and plenty of cafes and restaurants for you to discover during your trip. The local beach is only 300 metres away – why not take a pre-breakfast stroll for a scenic start to each day? Further afield, the nearby village of Llanbedrog (3 miles) is well worth the trip, as is Pwllheli, 7 miles up the coast.

You’ll enter the house into a roomy hallway with lovely oak staircases leading up and down. From here, step into the main living/dining room, a beautiful space with sofas, a TV, DVD and speaker system positioned on either side of a wood burner. There’s a long oak table seating up to 16 – ideal for those big family meals. French windows from here offer wonderful views and take you out to the decked area. The kitchen/living room, a stunning space with oak flooring and furniture, has a lovely fitted kitchen with high-quality appliances, including a wine fridge to keep your drinks cool. There’s a large sofa and a TV here, too. In the utility room, you’ll find the washing machine and tumble dryer. Also on the ground floor are two bedrooms – a twin with zip-and-link beds and a double with a lovely wooden bed. The roomy family bathroom has a limestone floor and walls, plus underfloor heating, for that five-star-hotel effect. On the first floor, you’ll find the master bedroom featuring an emperor-size bed, sofa and chairs. The views in here are truly fantastic, and there’s an en-suite bathroom with a period-style shower mixer, basin and radiators for a stylish flourish. In the elegant super-king-size bedroom, a gallery window provides incredible sea views toward Saint Tudwal’s Islands. The twin bedroom has zip-and-link beds that you can combine to make a super-king-size if needed. This room has a floor-length mirror, an indulgent armchair and an en-suite shower room. There’s also a family shower room with a limestone floor near these rooms. The lower ground floor of this majestic property has another super-king-size room furnished with antique pieces and with two feature alcoves. There’s also a quad room with two bunk beds – a great room for children to share. Guests of these rooms can use the shower room on the lower ground floor.

Outside the property, there’s a slate-paved covered area which you may find handy for storing sports equipment. The decked area has a dining table, chairs, a rattan sofa and a coffee table; this is a great spot for enjoying the sunshine or an evening cocktail. The large lawn is flanked by shrubs, trees and hedges, and at the front of the house, there’s a stone bird bath – still in use – dating back to when the house was built. Two gates from here lead to a path that heads down to the golf course and beach.

We had a wonderful Christmas at The Summer House. Walks from the property into town or along the beach with distant views of Snowdonia. The house was well equipped with everything we needed to cook Christmas lunch for 13. Highly recommend.

The property itself was excellent, superb location We do have some observations *. Given the price of the property we would have expected provision of essential consumables such as dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, adequate toilet rolls, and additional black bags. Having stayed in a variety of much less expensive properties, such items have Read morebeen more generous *. The check in and check out time are wholly unrealistic for a party of 15 that included 4 families, 7 young children and one person with mobility/health issues when they have been travelling considerable distances Hide
