Set in the Dee Valley, this red brick cottage provides a wonderful, rural base for four guests wanting to explore the Welsh countryside on foot or bike. Situated on a farm, there’s an abundance of trails and routes that wind into the surrounding area from here, and plenty of wildlife to see along the way. Just 2 miles from the property is the small town of Ruabon which has a shop and a couple of pubs, while 5 miles away is the pretty town of Chirk which boasts a stunning, Grade I-listed castle. Head to the superb Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (5.5 miles) which has World Heritage Status and can be viewed from both the path and by boat on the River Dee.
This spacious home has been thoughtfully decorated yet retains traditional features such as exposed beams, ornamental fire places and quarry tiled floors. Enter through the back of the house and find a handy utility room which houses a washing machine, fridge/freezer, and cloakroom WC. Adjacent is the well-equipped kitchen – eat together around the table in front of the dining room’s warming wood burner, before heading through to the comfortable lounge which has an open fire and a Smart TV. Upstairs are two spacious bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, as well as a fabulous snug/playroom with sofa bed and storage. A family bathroom completes the interior which has a shower over the bath and a WC.
The outside space is a real jewel in this property’s crown. There is a patio and lawn garden to the front, with a low fence enabling guests to soak up the far-reaching countryside views. Enjoy sitting on the garden furniture enjoying an evening tipple while the children play on the lawn. As this property is located on a working farm, cattle and sheep reside nearby.
