Soak up the serenity as you relax out in the beautiful gardens of this picture-perfect, red-brick cottage. Nestled in Upton, 2 miles from the Norfolk market town of Acle, the retreat sleeps five guests and two dogs and is about 300 metres from the nature reserve at Upton Broad and Fen, and 500 metres from the river. Follow a 4.5-mile circular walk through the marshes here, looking for wildlife. Visit Fairhaven Water Gardens, 2.5 miles away, or venture 11 miles to Winterton to pick up the Norfolk Coast Path, swim in the sea in summer and see the seals in winter. Spend time in Norwich, 12 miles away, wandering medieval streets, shopping in independent stores, dining out and visiting historic sights.
Make your way into the cottage to find rooms that still present period features, such as exposed beams and brickwork, but that also offer contemporary levels of comfort. Gather in the lounge after busy days out to watch a film together on the TV/DVD. Light the wood burner on chilly days and bask in its glow. Head into the kitchen to make everyone a cup of tea or to prepare homecooked meals with the Norfolk produce you have sourced. In here, you have an electric cooker and microwave, plus a fridge and freezer. There is also a dishwasher and a washing machine. Dine together in the beautiful conservatory, gazing out at the garden at the same time. Relax on a comfortable chair in here afterwards with your book and a cup of coffee. Also at the ground-floor level, you have a family bathroom, with a bath, shower cubicle and WC. Climb the steep, cottage-style stairs up to the first floor, where the two bedrooms are situated. One of these is a double, with an extra pull-out single bed suitable for a child, and the other is a twin room.
Spend as much time as possible out in the beautiful garden at this Norfolk cottage. Watch the children play on the lawn, BBQ your dinner out in the fresh air and enjoy the starry skies on clear evenings. There is parking for two cars at this cottage.
