This charming country cottage makes a wonderful base for a family or group of friends to enjoy all that Cornwall has to offer. Set in the unspoilt rural village of St Mawgan, staying at this home feels like you've stepped back in time. It is a real rural idyll with a traditional village green, friendly local shop, tearooms and of course a proper village pub. The beaches of Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth are just 2 miles away and there are lovely country walking trails leading out from the village to the coast and joining the beautiful South West Coast Path. The lively seaside town of Newquay is 6 miles to the south, or head north to Padstow and make the most of its top-notch restaurant scene. Many of Cornwall’s attractions are within easy reach of St Mawgan, including the unmissable Eden Project, 15 miles away.
This historical cottage has been beautifully renovated to offer guests a bright and comfortable space to relax. On the ground floor, there is a country-style kitchen with slate tiling and underfloor heating. There is an ample dining area and a cosy living room, both with a wood burner for those cooler evenings. A handy shower room with WC, also with underfloor heating, completes the ground floor. On the first floor, large windows look out from the landing and bedrooms over the garden and surrounding countryside. There is a spacious king-size room, one rather lovely twin room and two single rooms. The large family bathroom has a shower over the bath, a heated towel rail and underfloor heating.
The secluded gardens are a real feature of the cottage with extensive lawns, one of them enclosed by a wisteria-clad listed stonewall. There are also many well-established borders, trees and shrubs creating different zones to spend time in. The patio area immediately outside the house is set up for al-fresco dining with a table, chairs and parasol and a charcoal BBQ to enjoy. There are also several other seating areas where guests can enjoy peaceful moments with the sounds of the birds and wildlife around them.
