This former coastguard cottage is set in a private cul-de-sac on a clifftop overlooking Torbay and has been beautifully refurbished with luxurious touches while still retaining plenty of character and charm. Kids will love playing in the 7-acre coastal headland Daddyhole Plain, set directly in front of the house, and the South West Coast Path runs past. The town’s harbour, which houses an eclectic mix of restaurants, shops and museums, is less than 1 mile away, as are the English Riviera Wheel, the sheltered Beacon Cove and tranquil Meadfoot Beach.
The entrance lobby has underfloor heating and the open-plan living room has high ceilings and patio doors opening out onto a south-facing front terrace with sea views across Torbay. You can also enjoy the view from the comfortable corner sofa and light the wood burner for cosy evenings in (logs not provided). The dining area seats six and the galley kitchen has been kitted out with all you need to self-cater, and a bathroom on the ground level has a rain shower over the bath and underfloor heating. Upstairs, a bedroom with a king-size bed has views inland across Torquay town and towards Babbacombe, and a twin bedroom has sea views across Torbay; the window has the old coastguard hammer which was used to wake the coastguards when they were needed at sea. A cosy single room on this floor also enjoys panoramic sea views.
The fully enclosed front terrace features garden furniture and low-level lighting and the courtyard garden to the back of the property has a dining table and chairs, a BBQ and washing line, as well as lighting and an outside electric power point and tap.
