An enticing cottage, in a beautiful location of Bridport, this Dorset holiday home makes a great family retreat. Sleeping five guests, the dog-friendly, three-bedroom property is situated on a quiet lane beside meadows. The cottage is less than 0.5 miles from the centre of town, where you can potter in the shops, dine out and visit the museum. Venture 1.5 miles to West Bay, with its East and West beaches, with their sandstone cliffs and impressive views. At West Bay you can also walk along the Jurassic Pier, hire a rowing boat on the River Brit or book a place on a sea fishing trip. Play golf at the Bridport and West Dorset Golf Club, 1.5 miles from the cottage.
Enter the cottage to find yourselves in a generous lounge/kitchen/diner, with a wooden floor and comfortable seating at one end. Settle on here to watch the TV or a DVD, perhaps lighting the wood burner on chilly evenings. At the other end of the space is the light kitchen, with a door that opens on to a courtyard, and everything you need to whip up meals during your stay. A dining table sits between the kitchen and lounge areas. The family bathroom is also downstairs. A king-size bedroom, which can also be made up as twins if discussed at booking, and a single bedroom, with en-suite WC, are on the first floor of the cottage, while a twin bedroom, with two single futon beds, is up steep stairs on the second floor and makes a great children’s room.
The cottage opens on to an enclosed area, with an outbuilding for wet suits and bikes, and with a washing machine and microwave. This leads to the large garden, which has seating for outdoor relaxation, a BBQ to fire up on summer evenings and a long lawn.
