Take a day course at The Centre for Alternative Technology (10 miles) and learn about earth ovens, composting toilets, raw food, upcycling, traditional crafts, harnessing renewable energy and more. If you’re a fan of the BBC’s Springwatch, you’re sure to enjoy the woodland and wetland RSPB Ynys-hir Reserve (14 miles), where it was filmed several times. Further afield, the huge sandy beach at Aberdyfi (18 miles) promises seaside fun for all the family.

This delightful cottage is packed full of original features and offers an authentic taste of rural Wales. The lofty open-plan living area is double height, open to the chunky exposed woodwork of the roof. Strategically placed beside a large window, the dining table has a view that makes the most of the lovely surrounding countryside. The fully equipped kitchen has everything needed to feed hungry mouths after a day of exploring, and the contemporary bathroom is the place to soak those tired legs. I found this property to be quite perfect in so many ways which made our stay even more enjoyable. The property was secluded but with an outside terrace and good road links. Inside it had underfloor heating, a hot and powerful shower, a comfortable bed, a wardrobe with plenty of hangers, a kitchen with all the home comforts you would need - a freezRead moreer, toaster, microwave etc.. A dining table and chairs, decent internet! The place was very clean and tidy, so much so I thought it had just been refurbished and on top of all that the hosts were lovely and very helpful. We have stayed in many places and this has to be one of the best. Hide
