On the northern edge of the handsome seaside town of Barry and close to the stunning Glamorgan Heritage Coast, this award-winning former barn is a great getaway destination for a family or two couples. The town of Barry itself is just 2.5 miles away, with plenty of places to eat, drink and shop, a pleasure park, tourist railway and, of course, the lovely sandy beach of Whitmore Bay. The property is only 9 miles from Cardiff and, with great road, bus and train links (Barry station is just 1.6 miles from the cottage), it is an ideal place to stay while attending a sporting event in the Millennium Stadium or elsewhere in the city. As well as its huge selection of shops and restaurants, Cardiff offers many all-weather activities, including an indoor water park and Olympic pool, and the Cardiff International White Water Centre.
The property is one of a pair of adjoining holiday cottages that were converted in 2015. All on one raised level, it has high ceilings, beautiful original beams and stone floors. The open-plan lounge has comfortable leather sofas and is adjacent to the dining area, where you can throw back the doors to the balcony and really enjoy the feeling of space and fresh air. The kitchen at the far end of the room is well equipped with cupboards, worktop space and utensils – perfect for preparing a picnic or experimenting with a delicious evening meal. From the kitchen, a short corridor leads to the pretty double bedroom with en-suite shower room, while the king-size bedroom with its en-suite bathroom is accessed from the lounge.
The cottage has a large, lawned space outside (adjoining the neighbouring property) which gets the sun all day. There is a BBQ on site, a secure bike shed and storage space for sporting equipment. Directly off the lounge is a private, decked balcony with superb views over the Vale of Glamorgan and the Dyffryn Country Estate.
