Property code: OC-378642

This pretty cottage is set on a quiet residential street in the picturesque seaside town of Newport. It is perfect for a group of friends or a family to enjoy the delights of North Pembrokeshire. Within 200 metres of the front door, guests will find Newport High Street with its great selection of pubs and shops. The sandy beach is just over half a mile away and there is much to do in the area. Get active and explore the countryside with many miles of walking trails leading you along the coastal path or up into the Preseli Hills behind the town. There is a useful bus service for walkers called the ‘Poppit Rocket’ that makes its way along the coast from Newport to Cardigan. With many stops along the way, ramblers can hop on and off where they like and enjoy a car-free day out. Watersports and cycling are popular activities and there are boat trips to book, as well as some superb fishing and golf.

The house is a handsome 19th century cottage that used to house the manager of the local woollen mill. It has been sensitively and stylishly renovated to provide comfortable and spacious accommodation. Downstairs the open-plan kitchen/diner is the heart of the house with lots of space for sociable cooking and eating. The large dining table is set for six next to a wide window and French doors overlooking the gravel patio beyond. There is an additional breakfast bar and a small sofa within the space. Two snug living rooms provide flexible arrangements for lounging and sleeping, with one of them furnished with a sofa bed. The other main living room features a wood burner in the attractive original fireplace. There’s a useful downstairs WC and a utility area equipped with a washing machine, drying area, additional fridge and freezer. Upstairs, the master bedroom is a double with an en-suite shower room. Two twin bedrooms, one with sea views, share the use of the family bathroom with a bath and shower overhead.

Outside there is a level side garden with a gravel area and pretty shrubs. This space is set up with a table and chairs and is ideal for dining outside in the fresh air. In addition, there is a large, elevated lawn accessed via a gate. This is high and steeply sloping in parts offering pretty views across the rooftops to the sea. It is worth noting that this is a steep area so care should be taken with young children. There is also a garage for secure storage of bikes and kayaks etc.

A very well stocked property, lovely to see just little things like salt and pepper and cooking oil, the things we always forget to pack! Had a hair drier, iron and towels and tea towels.Very comfortable sitting areas and bedrooms. The outside area was well maintained and nice and private. Ideal for a family bbq. Location was brilliant to go into Read moretown, a 3 minute walk, with 3 pubs , a butcher, greengrocer, a small supermarket 2 bistros, post office ,pizza takeaway and gift shops.Less than 15 minutes to the sea front ( not much of a beach though)with toilets, and a lovely chip shop. We would love to go back. Hide

We had a lovely time at Ael y Bryn. The cottage is spacious and comfortable. It was great to have 2 sitting rooms and a sitting area in the kitchen/diner. The outdoor space is nice with good views from the garden. It is well placed in Newport with all facilities close by and private parking for 2/3 cars is a bonus

This is a lovely house with a large attractive garden in a wonderful location within easy walking distance of the centre of Newport. Having off street car parking for two cars is a real advantage too.

Newport is a fantastic place to spend a holiday. Lots of excellent eating places and interesting shops to browse. The walk to Parrog and the sea is easy and you can access Newport sands at low tide from here. The cottage is central to Newport and a good location with parking although the narrow lane to access is a little nerve wracking. The living Read morespace in the cottage is very good with effectively 3 sitting areas (including the kitchen). It would have been good to know more about the history of the cottage - lovely painted panelling in hallway. The main bedroom only has a double bed which really needs replacing. If we stayed again, we would bring our own pillows and a lightweight duvet as only 13.5 tog one supplied! Hide

Cannot fault this rustic, but modernised cottage. Perfectly located close to the heart of Trefdraeth (Newport). Parking space right outside for three cars very appreciated. Plenty of space and toilets inside for all of us. Thought that your booking fee was steep and I felt that I received far too many e-mail prompts and marketing in the weeks and dRead moreays leading up to our vacation. I would much prefer far fewer e-mails and so reduce the booking fee accordingly! Hide

We were not aware of the steep hill into Saundersfoot.. Not a problem for us but would have been good to know. The bush leading to the top terrace wad overhanging so difficult to get round. The thermostat for the heating wasnt working and we had to buy batteries for it to work. Also a lot of the plates and bowls were chipped
